2 hours for extensions?

Hi did it ever take anyone else like 2 hours to do extensions? I'm newly qualified but feel I can't publicise my business as it takes me like 2 hours to do a set please someone tell me that this used to be them too
It's all the filing and buffing that takes so long argh

When I first learnt yes it did takes me about an hour now to do a plain set art takes extra time
But remember u carnt rush perfection x

Of course we've all been there, my first few sets took nearer 4 hours It took probably a year to get to around an hour and a half. Remember to do more work with your brush to minimise filing time at the end. This also saves you money, filing off product creates nothing but expensive dust, 'sculpt with your brush not with your file' was drilled into me over and over again in training and it's really true.

No not at all. The sooner you start doing them the better. My timing reduced once I was doing back to back appointments.
Don't worry about timing, just concentrate on doing a good job

You just gotta get out there Hun but I'd do an offer , to build your portfolio Which sound better than to practice , people will let you off the time if they get a bargain xxx

Thank u I got few photos of gel polish already that I've done since July it's just the extentions really I need to practice thanks very much I have my fb page done I just haven't published it yet also I got my logo and business cards all done so I just need to do it don't I haha

you will be fine ! Believe in yourself , and don't feel pressured into speeding up , honestly or just happens , tell then ur a perfectionist and do it properly and don't forget to prime ! I've had girls starting out, fully qualified who think it's impressive to do it quick - which means they forget the basics - until it comes naturally set everything out in logical order and then u can't go wrong . Get that profile launched on FB and start ur offer - don't start cheap as chips though - it's much harder to increase ur price later ! Good luck - u will be fine xxxx

To be commercially viable at nvq level 2, they expect you to complete full service from prep to clear top coat in 2 hours or less, so don't worry. X

I've been doing nails years and I think it all depends on the nail.
I find small nailbeds harder to work on. There are some clients who's nails are as small as my daughter's nails it's trickier to work around.
I did a set the other day and client had very short small nailbeds with very dry skin around and lots of previous damage from previous nail tech she had rings of fire where a drill had been used on her. I had to be extra careful and took much longer than I should have. It doesn't matter as long as you are doing a good job your speed will come.

The premise is the same though; practice makes you quicker.

I usually take just under 2 hours for a set with shellac and art. I do everything by hand and my clients aren't rushed in and out.

Definitely agree with the practice to build your portfolio - sounds better than practicing to get time up

You obviously thought the same as I did. Aparently, this is not about hair. I have no idea what extensions are in the nail world. Lol
