Hi
I've just done a manicure on an 82 year old lady, I used normal polish with a little repair polish as the base as both of her thumbs are badly splitting at the ends and up into her nail bed about 0.5cms, she believes it's just old age bless her.
I was wondering if it's advisable to use either gel builder or gel polish next time I go back or neither to strengthen the nails so the splits grow out or if it's not a good idea.
Sorry if this sounds stupid I just don't want to risk it without some other opinions, thank you

There's absolutely no age limit on gels - I have many clients in their 80s and they're completely converted to gel systems! However the nail splitting on your client doesn't sound healthy and I wouldn't apply if there was a contraindication, which it sounds like she might have! If it's safe to apply then absolutely do so, just make sure she is very clear how to treat them at home and not to pick them off! Hope this helps! X
