Morning!

I need a little bit of help with toners please!!

I've completed my first year at college.... I understand colour theory, the colour wheel, I know when and why you use them, and which tones counteract which tones etc...

I'm just a bit unsure of the actual products  what are they labelled as when I'm looking to buy them? Are they labelled as a toner? That's the bit I don't get! Could you please give me some example of brands & names etc... I feel a bit silly knowing how to use something & don't actually know what it is!

Thanks in advance!! :) xx

Hello! Ill give you an exmple using wella colours, you can tone with lots of different things they don't have to be called toaners. You can use wella colour touch to tone with, you can also use wella kolaston perfect using some of the blonde shades you just mix them different (for example if you were using 10/1 you would use 20ml of 10/1 and 40ml of pastel developer, you allways mix them with pastel and you allways double the peroxide) you can also use colour fresh to tone with but it won't be as long lasting. I hope this helps and isn't confusing xx

Oh. ok. That is helpful... Thanks!

Can I tone with the mix tones? Blue, purple etc? Or do they have to be mixed with a base colour? (That probably sounds like a really stupid question!?)

They are quite strong to use on their own you usually only use a teeny bit mixed in with what ever toner you want to use, they are used more so to enhance the permanent clours, you can also use them to pre pig x

Cool, thank for your help :) xx

In wells colour touch are best to toner, I.e I toned a lady with green hair using a copper + 1.9%
They never tend to be labelled as toners! 10/8 is really good on bleach to get soft White colour! Can be mixed with pastel toner peroxide but I no alot of people including myself that react with that, causing burning so bow I always use 1.9% with all toners, as it smells nicer, feels nicer, makes hair soft and shiny and doesn't affect the scalp!
I've not matrix colour sync are really good to!
