hiya geeks, sorry to put such a miserable question to you in the new year! just doing my business studies homework for my btec college course, and in my business plan i have to put the estimated costs of an accountant, any of you have any suggestions?!

thanks in advance!

xx :)

Not sure about an hourly charge, but my Accountant charges me £100 +VAT a year to do my tax return.

I do an Excel spreadsheet throughout the year, he does the calculations, makes any deductions he believes I'm entitled too and files the return.

Again - for Steves business I keep track of all the income and outgoings for the year and the accountant just does the year end account which will go to him any time now. He charges about £200.

This being my first year I havent yet had to do my accounts so dont know how much he would charge for salon accounts.

Hi
Well as an accountant i can say that generally £100 plus vat is a good price for a tax return but to do accounts for a year for a new business it is a little more difficult. proper accounts should be prepared as well as completing a tax return really but if there are not many transactions then this may not be necessary but it is always good to have them for banks and so on if you ever want a loan or overdraft for example. First year accounts for a straight forward business with turnover below the vat threshold and not many employees would be about £200 - £350 depending on how good your paperwork is. If your accountant does your monthly payroll for you then this may be about £100 ish a year depending again on how many employees etc
different areas and different accounts rates will vary and will also depend on the accountants qualifications and experience which is what you are paying for with all professional people. Its false economy to cut on getting good financial help
Hope this helps
