A girl I know uses acetone to thin out acrylic nails if there getting a bit thick or if someone is having a lot of length off so they don't end up extra thick. I have always just used acetone for full removals only. Was just wondering your views on this ???

I think it is lazy

.....or inexperience, I'll be honest, I used to do this when I first started, probably because I didn't really have enough experience or understand the proper structure of a nail enhancement. If her technique is good & she de-bulks enough in between there should be no need for this! Ultimately I think it compromises the strength of the nail enhancement!

She said she uses it when there having a lot of length off so going from extremely long to a short square so there would be a lots to be thinned

Yeah she did say it was cos she was lazy . I was just curious as I thought it would of like damaged the full structure

It's easier just to clip the length on the side with normal nail clippers then file down.

Exactly this is all part of the rebalancing process, taking the length down, de-bulking & refining as she goes. Her enhancements must be quite thick to start with or her technique/application inbetween fills to even need to do this, it's a pretty poor show to be honest.

I don't even know how you would do this with acrylic!
If you're soaking the nails then filing it off then surely you're compromising the tip? It's soaked in acetone!

Exactly it goes all soft & rubbery, nightmare trying to build on top of that soft structure!
