Hi Ladies

I'm fairly new to ACG but have had quite a few clients and have also been applying it to my own nails and it seems to be lasting great BUT....... I had a client came back today with 3 nails chipped, they have only been on for 4 days.... so I'm now thinking why would they do that? it hasnt happened before.

What I do know is that my client had gel sculptures and took them off incorrectly (a while back) and her nails were badly ridged and dry, could this be the cause of the chips? Maybe I didnt buff all the ridges out enough? tbh I lightly buffed the nail as I normally would and wouldn't have wanted to buff anymore as I didnt want to damage her nail bed.

I know every client is different and I cant take the blame if a client doesnt look after her nails but I also want to make sure that if it's something I'm doing wrong then I learn from it so it doesnt happen again.

Help ladies, I'm so confussed.

A lot of my clients have damaged nail I use the builder gel it works a treat to those who are prone to chipping

Don't beat yourself up, probably nothing you did, some people just seem to always chip!

Thank you very much. Thats really helped.

I've thought about it loads and am convinced that its due to the ridges, maybe I should invest in the building gel.

So the lesson is if clients nails are badly ridged or damaged I should use building gel. Or if they are prone to chipping to also use the building gel.

Thank again ladies, I love this forun, you are all so informative. :)

I'm the opposite to u, mine always chip but they r crap nails and I can't help picking but I have confidence in Gelish and ACG because most of my clients last at least 2 weeks. It's definitely to do with nails, did these tonight and she had Diva Chic on when she came and it had lasted 4 weeks with.no chips. She's just got long strong nails and its easy to cap the free edge, I think that's the key.

Cloughers that's a shame yours always chip. lol stop picking, that won't be helping your nails :p

Yeh I'm the same, I think ACG is amazing and the durability is amazing on most of my clients too. I know what you mean about longer nails being easier to cap, I have to say that was hard on this client as her nails weren't the longest but I still managed it.

That colour is stunning, I must invest!

Do you use both gelish and ACG? I've been thinking about getting black shadow as my swag is terrible to get thin and perfect coverage, takes at least 3 extremely thin coats and still lifts onto my top coat brush and still doesn't look as great as a black should :S

I use Gelish and ACG and they are exactly the same. I hate using Black Shadow as it takes 4 coats to get good converage. I've just got the Gelish Shadows collection and love them, they only take 2 coats although they have to be really thin otherwise it wrinkles. You can use Gelish and ACG base and top coats with either collection which is handy too.
