I have an acrylic exam on Saturday, I'm just struggling a bit getting my beads right. I've been practising forv6 weeks but it's weird, it's either too wet or grainy with powder stuck round it. If I try to make it dryer, even with powder stuck round it that I'm having to tap off, it's still too wet. The bead just looks nothing like the YouTube videos which had a more smooth consistency and seems to go on more like a thick paste. Mine never do even when I try to get a dryer bead it slops all over the place. I'm not sure if it's my brush as the splays a bit from getting damaged at the begging. I've been trying all day just on beads, any help would be so much appreciated. I'm using NSI x

Who are you trainin with? X

I'm not training with any of the brand trainers, it's with a beauty academy near, they are teaching me a VCTC level 2 in nail technology.

Youre probably best to speak with the academy you are training with and explain the trouble you are having as they are the ones teaching you and know the products you are using and can troubleshoot any problems you are having before your exam x

And good luck for your exam x

The temperature of the room you’re working in will also be a factor. Make sure it’s warm enough or it will just run and take ages to set.

Ciderella it's freezing! I have my double doors open as I have small children in the house so I need loads of ventilation.

Just an update anyway, I went and bought a size 8 NSI brush today. Problem solved, I can't quite believe it but my beads now look normal and I can work with them properly. Miles better than my cheap brush I've been training with. So glad invested in a good one that goes with my system x

Glad you got it sorted. My central heating boiler has packed and I can’t get a new one installed until Sunday. Working has been horrendous!! The acrylic is runny and taking such a long time to set.

Have a look at this fantastic video by Kirsty Meakin which will explain exactly how to pick up the perfect bead every time.

Do you know what Pure, that's exactly the video I watched where I was thinking, something's not right. No matter what I did I never got a bead that looked anything like those. With my new brush I was able to get beads like hers. It was definitely my trashed brush . Need to look after my new one!

Glad you’ve got it sorted :) The right brush can definitely make all the difference, look after that baby!
