I am in a bit of tangle... I was practising acrylic nails and I nudged my dappen dish, I didn't realise how much I had spilt until I cleared all my products away and realised some of the table was patchy and appeared to have been eroded away.
It looks like the liquid has soaked in and created patchy/sticky marks and where the liquid had dried and soaked in, it took a few layers off gloss off leaving the wood exposed.

I have considered using a sander but I don't want to risk damaging the table any further. Is there anything lighter I can use to even the surface back out without having to use electric tools?
Anyone have any advise on how I can remove the dry liquid patches without damaging the wood.

Hi, I would take a very fine grit of sandpaper and go over the spill lightly. See if that helps. Also, can you post a pic of the damage?

My friend spilt nail varnish remover over her table and the put oil (cooking) over and let it soak in . X

Thank you @deanosnana I will try that. I am not able to attach a photo, I'm sorry.
@lcarrol30, does it matter about what kind of oil I use, e.g. Virgin olive oil? X
