Please help, I’m newly qualified in acrylic nails but just can’t seem to get it right. They always end up with bumps and never smooth, so when I apply gel polish the lumps are awful, please help

It'll come together with practice. My first sets were just the same, luckily my mates were very patient and forgiving [emoji6]

It's a two part journey to improve. You need to apply the acrylic so neatly that it doesn't need much shaping afterwards, but that is not a skill mastered overnight.
I found it easier to forget trying to do a three bead or two bead and just concentrated on getting the shape as close to perfect as possible with a view to reducing how much time I would need to spend filing afterwards... even if it took ten beads! Over time as I got better at controlling the product the number of beads I needed naturally reduced.

Until then you'll be doing a lot more work with your files to tidy things up and that's a second skill in it's own right, seeing and refining the perfect shape and contours.
Best advice I can give there is to examine lots of photos of perfect nails and remember to keep checking your work from different angles. Visualise the exact shape you want to achieve rather than just filing till it looks smooth.

Eventually as you get neater with application you'll have less filing to do and you'll be faster. Get a practice hand and practice like crazy. Possibly try a few different brands too, I learned with NSI but find CJP and Naio much easier to handle. Naio have a medium speed monomer with a slower setting time that you might find useful to start off with.

You need to perfect your final buffing technique, there are a few YouTube videos about 'final filing' routines - I think Miss Lucy The Nail Fairy has done one as a starting point. It'shard to talk you through it, it's something you have to see and demonstrate to teach.

Kirsty Meakin has just put up a really good acrylic filing tutorial on YouTube
