Hi guys.

So it's nearly been a year that I have been qualified in acrylic nails. I don't do it full-time as I'm still in college.
But till this day I'm still struggling to make the nails last a whole 2 weeks before the next infill! At least 2 or 3 extensions have come off, or some are hanging by a thread

This is making my infill appointments much longer.

Is there anything I am doing wrong? Or should be using? I use a dehydrator and a nail surface cleaner. As well as doing the basic prep (file, buff, cuticle work).

Thanks

Can you list all the steps and tools/products you use so we can help

First I do the cuticle work (using cuticle pusher and removing any dead skin)

I use the nail cleanser to clean the surface of any dead skin removed (Gelish nail surface cleaner)

I normally file the nails right down so it can fit the well of the tip.

Next I use a basic nail buffer to get all of the shine of the nail surface. And then use the nail cleanser again.

I then finish the prep with a nail bonder (Nsi super bond primer) and use this twice.

The glue I use to stick the tips on is called "star glue".

Use a basic 120 grit to file away the line of the tip.

All of the acrylic products I use are NSI products (liquid and powder)

Hope this is helpful. Excuse and bad grammar. My brain doesn't function very well at this time of the morning [emoji51]

Mine isn't too great this morning either lol.

I'd make sure you are definitely removing all tissue from the nail plate. I certainly wasn't when I first qualified. I used to use a pusher then a curette to go around.
Watch this video which shows the difference.

I'd also check when you're removing the shine you aren't buffing the nail smooth. It should be etched rather than buffed. Nsi recommend a 180 grit file for this however others use a 240.

And just my personal opinion but I wouldn't recommend using superbond twice. It's an acid primer and should be used sparingly. Their normal primer should be sufficient unless it's a problem lifter.

Check your head ratio as well to make sure you aren't working too wet. There are great Nsi videos on https://nailangel.co.uk

That is very true. Sometimes people have very dry and hard cuticles then I feel cautious to get rid of all of it just because it might hurt. I know your suppose to remove all the white skin. (Because that's dead). What is a curette?

Thanks for the advice with removing the shine. I'll definitely try that today. I have a client later, and I just want them to be good (as well as other clients).

I did use to only apply one layer of bonder, however after this problem of continuing I thought I would try two. My beads may be slightly wet. I still struggle shaping the acrylic if it's too hard of a bead.

Thanks for the videos. They're not loading right now but I'm hoping they will later!! :)
