Hi,

After reading up all about Shellac I went for my first manicure today. Unfortunatly I think I should have looked into the salon a little bit more as I am now concerned.
All posts about Shellac polish state that the nail beds are not filed but the girl who did mine has done this heavily with a very rough file.
Has anyone seen this before? I am hoping someone will know if I am better getting the polish removed now or if I should leave it for the two weeks?

It isn't necessary to remove the polish. No, she shouldn't have roughed your nail plates and it could have potentially thinned them (not knowing how vigorous she was, I obviously can't tell you for sure) but there isn't really a need to remove them. My advice to you is to always ask for certification, ask to see the bottle of products used to ensure you're getting the real product, and make sure you're watching their sanitation standards. It's very important to make sure the place you are going has your safety in mind.

As abve rally but make sure you are oiling meticulously and go ask them about removal before you do it, chances are if they didnt apply it in the correct manner they wont remove it in the correct manner either.

They should be using Dsolve (Acetone and conditioning remover) and wrapping your fingers in either foils or Remover wraps (look like plasters) for 1o minutes then using an ornage stick to gently remove any excess.

They shouldnt have to buff your polish before soaking, use metal tools or remove by soaking in a bowl of Acetone.
