I recently have base 6 roots with bleached hair.. I bleached roots then added a 10.1 koleston to tone with 2.9% my roots are now like a golden colour.. have added picture to show. . Any advice on getting toots same colour as rest of hair, would koleston 10.1 with 9% bring it any lighter or ahould I go for an ilumina toner? Yes im only level 1 hairdressing but am doing my own hair.. please dont comment get a professional to do it as I rather do it myself. . Thanks in advance?

You'd rather not go to a professional but you are happy to ask us for free advice? Right.

Your 10/1 won't lift it anywhere.

Return to your colour wheel to give you an idea of watts gone on with it and what you can do to rectify it.

Its not id rather not its 1. Im sick of so called fully qualified hairdressers destroying my hair and 2. Even if I could find a decent hairdresser.. I couldnt afford it atm as finishing last bits off to take my kids on their first holiday.. no need to be so crappy about it was asking hoping a decent hair dresser could give me sone advice! Why are everyone on here so snobby!

It's very difficult for us as you wouldn't go to a lawyer and ask them for legal advice so you could fight your own court case.

You wouldn't go to the plumber and ask him to tell you how to fix your plumbing so you can do it yourself.

So not only have you offended me now by reckoning you know better than "so called hairdressers" and by calling me "snobby", you've also got the cheek to hope that someone will help you.

I'm trying to help you by saying 1. 10/1 won't fix your problem. 2. Look at the colour wheel which should help you find what will help you.

All the best with your holidays

Silly me for thinking i may get a bit of advice on a hairdressing advice page..and im not rude I just dont think anyone got any right to tell me to go to a salon if I want to do my own hair thats my choice! Seems to me like im not the only one who has come across as having a bad attitude!

You've been advised to go to a salon because you don't yet have enough knowledge to do it yourself.

What's the first rule of colour?
Tint won't lift tint.

Second Rule?
As Kimmi said, use your colour wheel to work out the correct tint to use to counteract unwanted tones...

Yes, we all start somewhere...usually in the classroom learning the theory before practising on training heads and then practising on clients under supervision. Your enquiry demonstrates exactly why colour correction is taught at level 3 and not before.

Can you not get it done at college by another student under supervision? At least that way, you'd be learning at the same time.

You need to use a toner more silver, purple in it.10.1 wont tone it enough.the silver will counteract the gold/ yellow tones.be careful though not to leave it on for too long as on bleach it can really grab x

Don't be disheartened, it can seem awful when the geeks start on here but their right we shouldn't give the information out to people who arnt trained yet, my advice would be next time your in college ask if one of the level 2's can do your roots for their assesment, ask your tutor the questions you have about the colour, they'll be glad to see you've got initiative to try to work it out for yourself and will no doubt give you lots of little extra bits of advice with regards to toning hair, there are rules on this site that we have to abide by so don't take it too personally when you can't get a straight answer, re read the posts above tho the steps to getting it right are set out in the comments others have left x
