Hey there, I'm 42 and am a make up artist. I have plenty of bridal make ups througout the year to keep me very busy. Think of it this way too....us 40+ women have had many more years than 20 somethings in putting our own make up on for start, so the confidence foundation is already there! I don't feel too old to do it all, my brides see me at wedding fayres so they know what they are in for when I turn up!

NO U ARNT ! i went to college with 18 yrolds 20 yrolds 30 yrolds and me the over 40's group.... we all got on realy well, i love it . love it and wished id done it sooner :D:D:D:D i get lots of work and the clients i have rance from 13 to 50 so..... they say life expirience is better and feel more at ease/// i now do nails tans and waxing ... its like a monster . i just want to learn :o more and more DO IT X;)

Your story sounds similar to mine. I was in a marriage where I was bullied and lost all my self esteem. 3 years ago I got the strength to divorce him. I am now married to an amazing man who encourages me in anything I do.
I decided to train in nails, then facials, massage, eyelash estensions and next week am doing make-up and waxing and sugaring courses. I left my job as a teacher and now have my own home salon. I am 46 and life has never been better than it has in the last 3 years.

So what I am saying is you must certainly, definately go for it. I bet you wont stop at make-up once you get the beauty bug. Best of luck to you.

You are never too old for anything I say and if that is what you want to do then you go for it girl! I used to have a low self esteem like yourself but now I think I am who I am and I do what I want to do and if someone doesn't like then stuff them lol!

Good luck with everything and remember to keep your chin up and take each day step by step! :)

Hi there, I agree with all the positive encouragement already given. I am 46 years young and trained as a beauty therapist 2 and a half years ago at college. A few years before that I undertook a couple of make-up courses so that I could do bridal make-up.

I now run my own business from home in beauty and bridal and have never looked back. I did it with a 14 year and 5 year old and a husband who was studying Spanish and also a full time surgeon... he often was not at home.

May I direct you to another forum which is specifically make-up based. There are several bridal and commercial artists on there as well as loads of peeps just starting out.

Very best wishes.
