So... I’m allergic to ammonium persulfate... and hate having dark roots... any way to bleach/ lighten my hair without using products containing ammonium persulfate?

Bleach has the highest quantity of ammonium persulfate. Have you tried highlift instead? It may still have it, but almost half the amount. (on average) I have a client who is allergic to bleach, but not highlift. Your other option is, back to back foils, or just really fine, close together foils at the root.
