Hi darling professionals, thank you in advance for reading this :)

I am saving up for nail training, thinking about CND, both L&P and gel extensions as well as Shellac training.
Now, I am going to have to dish out a lot of money so I am no where near my target piggybank fatness yet, which is fine with me as I rather wait long and have proper training.

But, as I am a nail-aholic and I never have bare nails, would I be wrong to assume I could already practice on my nail-polish application (asin not touching the eponychium but also not leaving a ginormous gap, neat along the sidewalls etc) on both myself, nail trainer and perhaps my better half (if I get him drunk enough to be my victim), without teaching myself too many wrong moves and having to unlearn those when I start proper training?
Would practicing this as much as I can benefit me at all in the long run or should I just get over my impatience, give myself a break and let go of the idea that I could already try some baby steps by myself?

I was just wondering about this, obviously, (and let me highlight this part) I do not want to touch any professional material before I have proper training but I am an eager beaver when it comes to practicing, and this might make me less impatient (high hopes there, lol)

That and I polish my own nails anyway but am more a fumbler and perfectionist with free hand nail art then a polish perfectionist so it made me wonder if I could set myself a little straighter already.

Thank you again for reading :)

I don't see why practicing your polishing technique would do any harm. as they say, practice makes perfect. Check out the tutorials section here on SG. There is one on precision polishing by Geeg. http://www.salongeek.com/nail-finishing-maintenance/11972-precision-polishing.html

Good luck in your training...hopefully piggy gets full soon :)

Yes I thought it couldn't do any harm, but wanted expert opinion as I really didn't want to 'unlearn' bad habits.

I found that tutorial, it rocks! Tried to fumble around with that while doing my own nails but not enough fingers when doing that, LOL.. cramp followed :p

Guess it's time to round up female friends, appoint the husband as designated babysitter and practice, practice, practice :p

Not worried about piggy, it'll fill up when it needs to be I guess. I am already lucky I found this site as I was going to do one of them fast trainings and had almost wasted piggy's belly to do that.
Glad I now know I better wait until I can afford a CND training, otherwise it would all have been wasted.

Anyhow, thank you for conforming, at least I will have something to practice and make me feel less impatient :)
