I'm aware I'm not a hair professional and therefore understand if this post is deleted... (Sorry!)

I'm looking for someone to help me master some neat and easy updos (french twist, simple bun, french plaits) for a new job which requires me to look groomed.

I'm just trying to a) find how much you would charge for this and b) if anyone would be willing.

I've called salons in my area, who've said they'll call me back and haven't... i understand it's maybe a bit of a weird request. Apologies if this is really out of line, I wasn't sure where else to enquire.

Why not check out YouTube for hair tutorials, there are hundreds and hundreds on there broken down into really simple steps.

Yes it would be easier for someone to show you but if you're not getting anywhere then time to change tactics :D

Have you tried the London Hair Academy they do 1-2 day courses for bridal hair for non hair dressers. Although these are biased towards brides you would learn basic up do techniques that could be adapted. Give them a ring - they may suggest a course tailored to suit you.

They also do a hair and makeup course for beginners it is a week long but probably more suited to your needs.

I think as it's your own hair, you're better off sitting in front of a mirror with your screen running and just practising a lot. Once you've got the hang of a few basics it's not that difficult to adapt the techniques and come up with lots of new looks for yourself, especially if you add a few simple accessories.
