Hi all
Just wanted to know everyone’s opinions-

I’m booked to do a balayage on very long, Asian hair. Planning to use 30 vol on the bottom and mid section and a 40 on the sides and crown
As Asian hair is stubborn in terms of lightening would you use 40 all over? Or 30 on the areas which will inevitably have longer to develop?
Thanks x

If they are wanting something approaching blonde it will take 3 sessions. I personally would not use 40 vol because it will need doing multiple times. Even for one process I find 40 vol leaves the texture like straw. Foil is essential you would be lucky to get 2 levels of lift on old ends of long asian hair in open air with no scalp heat. With foil you might get it past orange to a gold, or you might not even reach orange. I clip the foils on as I find they don't stick on their own since there is less product for balayage.

You will need lots of space to work in as you will have to take several steps away to overdirect the hair, long hair seems to go on forever.
