again! :) Soooo I've found somewhere to rent a room for beauty. Can you earn good money from this or will I just be breaking even? I don't do acrylic/gel nails but I do everything else xx

Well I guess that depends on what you'll be charging?

Run it with no real understanding of your costs and based on undercutting competitors prices and you may as well volunteer for a charity.

Fully understand your costs - and I mean ALL costs, including annual charges, taxes and incidentals - and focus on building uo a good, solid business based on client loyalty ans a willingness to pay for the best and yes, you can make a good living from this industry.

It's not cheap to get started - or rather, it's not cheap to get started properly!

And keep in mind that it may take longer to get off the ground charging proper prices than it does to do a treatment for a tenner. However, the service that they are getting is on a completely different scale.

However, if you build a business based on loyal clients rather than those whose sole motivation for choosing a salon is price, then you will have a business for life. Shout from the rafters why you're the best, Show them - and don't become complacent after a few treatments. Always, always treat that client like they're the most important client, whether it's their first visit or their hundredth.

Good luck :)

Brilliant advice. I think it should be printed out and hung up on every staffroom door. ;)
