Are you kidding me? Sorry but I really did have to laugh at that comment about being lazy, followed by "MHO"
How is using these types of abbreviations not being equally as lazy? And I have more trouble trying to decypher all of the abbreviations on this site than anything else...

Well I knew what MHO meant as most forums have abbreviations like that, I didn't know what EASL meant (I thought you were referring to a learning issue) and had to think about that one for a while which I suspect quite a few people will.

So you didnt notice the smiley face I put after it????
Sarcasm really is lost on some people!

So do you know what it means, because I'm stumped.

I know what you mean, but its when people use things like "lk" instead of "look" and "ur" instead of your. When texting it makes sense but when you are writing an email or a reply on here there is no reason for it, I think its just lazy! (sorry if I offend anyone its just MHO) :)

It might be used in texts to save time and space but I have received texts before now from my best friend (26 years old) who never used to use it and now does and I actually just gave up trying to read them. She's a very bright girl but some how to me it just makes the brightest people look a bit dim

Latest thing is how my twins and their friends talk on msn and in text, its not even text talk, try and read it aloud and you sound like that DJ Westwood. I saw one of their friends blogs and he seemed to be talking in 'Snoop Dog' language, they were all replying to it in kind! I just hope thats not a fashion to hit forums like this anytime soon

Well I assume its an abbreviation for English as a Second Language. If it isn't I am lost and my reply to her made no sense

ROTFLOLPIMP:lol:

rolling on the floor, laughing out loud, peeing in my pants (just for those that don't know)

Abbreviations are often acceptable, but try putting them on your price list (even in NZ).:)

Just to reiterate, the post was about bad spelling, not abbreviations, seems some have taken it personally, but what the heck? baaaaaa baaaaaaa

Sometimes people are better off "NOT" to draw attention to themselves, yet they insist.

Woohoo it's managed to install the spell check it's not been able to do it before.

Other than that...

Some try to but the mods edit their posts to make them readable and send a private message if it continues :wink2:

As has been said before, we all need to try our hardest to make our posts read properly and understandable by our members/visitors who have English as a second language. That doesn't mean to say we all have to be perfect, but it doesn't hurt for everyone to at least try to spell correctly.

We are, after all, a global community :green:

I have read your posts about this before Carl......so i have taken it all onboard !!!!.......now for people who have trouble installing it on salon geek..(which i did) ..you can go to google and install it there....:green:

Good for you lilly :), everyone/anyone can do it,
oddly enough after correcting a few or your own posts using spellcheck, you actually teach yourself how to spell.

It has tought/taught me heaps, but when I'm in doubt/dowte, I just press that little button.

I can never understand how people can take offense to learning something new. I guess some people don't want to learn, or earn respect.

In that case, you won't mind me telling you that names are always spelt with a capital letter (Lilly) and that there should be a full stop after 'anyone can do it' and not a comma.

My computer won't let me install it

there's always someone that comes along and spoils it. (oops, I didn't capitalise "there's) and capitalise could be spelled with a "z" also .... but I'm not nitpicking.

The thread is about spelling.:!:

Feel free to start a different thread about punctuation if you like.

If you are gonna be sarcastic, at least use emoticons.

Just on this note (which I fully agree with) I started my 7303 at college last night and the tutor, was asking us how to spell words he was trying to write on the white board!!!! I dont just mean one either I mean loads!!!!!

I don't have English as my first language, I don't know the grammar that well.
So it might be my posts that sounds childish, But if I'm not sure if its the right word, don't i write then, ore let me give you an option: just ignore my posts if you don't want spelling mistakes and other errors.

I will do spell checks, but I won't stop writing if I don't know the exact grammar ore spelling. Otherwise you could just say that us foreigners who don't have English as our first language is not welcome to post.

And I believe that typos are easier to correct, so don't throw stones when you live in a glasshouse....

By the way I do nails much better than I write English, so don't be afraid clients...

Hun it's because we have people like you in the forum for who English isn't their first language that it is important that those of us who do speak it should try and spell correctly when possible. WI don't know what you do but when I was in Norway if I needed to search for something in a couple of Norwegian forums I used I looked up the spelling and then searched so anyone who spelt it incorrectly didn't show up and I probably missed a lot of information simply because of that. Thats especially so for technical terms.

No one is aiming anything at 'foreigners'

wel i no what u meen i just cant spell
but b 4 i go on i love you all

HI

Hmm yes I see why it gets on your nerves, people not using paragraph's on long post's irritates me. Thank god for the mod's I know how much I wish I could click the edit button on some post's and correct the spelling for them!
