Beauty school confusion

Hello experts! I am an HND Beauty student in Glasgow, Scotland. I am confused about... ah, lots of things, but the most pressing (as I have a theory exam soon) is this - definitively, can you explain to me exactly what the eponychium is, how it relates to the cuticle, why some people think you can remove the cuticle and others don't... so many questions. ⏱ Thank you in hangnail picking anticipation! x

Hi Trinity... Thanks so much! Question 1 - *think* that the eponychium is living skin that also be called the laternal nail fold? Is that correct?
(my course documents are great but I have a few conflicting diagrams that seem to interchange the cuticle and eponychium)
