Beauty to hairdressing

Hi geeks need a little bit of advice. I am 24 and am a qualified in beauty therapy and have been for about 3 or so years now. I am looking to train in hairdressing as its my goal to have my own hair and beauty salon one day and I want to be qualified in all aspects. I really want a salon junior position and work that way but im wondering if my age would be an issue and if it would be better to do a full time college course? But I know it can be hard to get a job with no experience. Any advice would be greatly appreciated xxxx

I'm 21 & just started full time hairdressing in college also qualified in beauty therapy. I struggled to get a position in any salons in my area so was my only option but if I were you really really look for salons. If colleges in your area are like mine then your not old enough to do a 'mature' course so stuck with 16 year olds and its hard tiring work!!xx

Yeah I wouldn't qualify as a mature student until I'm 25 which is next June so I would be by the time the course started in aug but it would affect the course, I'd still be in with the young ones lol. I'd really prefer working in a salon but I think they are more likely to hire a 16 year old so they don't need to pay then as much lol xxx

At most colleges i know any one ovet 19 is classed as a mature student x
