Hi geeks.! I'm actually a nail geek. - but just wanted to pick your very clued up brains ;)

Which hair extensions method is the least damaging to your natural hair?

I have had so many types, and at the minute I've been having the hair wefts glued in With that "gold glue" (not too sure of it's name)

I don't think they have done too badly? But my hair is already thinish to begin with and I really don't want to make it thinner but leaving it alone to grow ect is NOT an option lol as all you hair extension fans will appreciate :)

Looking forward to your answers Girlies :)

Hi :D

Any system shouldnt ruin your hair if fitted and removed properly....however, often fusion (glue) methods arent removed properly thus damaging the hair and scalp. That can be said for any method really but i think glue has the worst rep for it, micro rings are heat and glue free if you really want to steer clear of glue but if you find an experienced extensionist you can trust then any system shouldnt be a problem. hth x

Try the micro rings. You can get ones with silicone inside for extra protection. Glue method is good but make sure you use keratin glue. The only thing i dont like about having bonds is what they use to take them out with!

Hi,
its not so much which is the safest & best method, its which method is most suitable for your hair type, and finding a reputable technician to fit your extensions.
Any method can be damaging to your hair,if the technician doesnt fit/remove them properly. But my clients never have a problem, and wear extensions for years, as there hair grows perfectly fine underneath.
The cold fusion method doesnt neccessarily have to be done with keratin glue? I like to use a glue thats made of polyamide,as they soften towards the life of the extensions, making it easier for me to remove, and more comfortable for the clients, for around 8 years I have used aceton, and crushing pliers to remove fusion bonds, causing no damage to anybodys hair, but a year or so ago, i found a gun, that releases solution that dissolves the best,so they just slide out, its fab!!
I sometimes fit the cold fusion method, that you have, but only tend to if styling for a photoshoot, night out, wedding etc,I dont use the liquid gold glue,as it lasts longer than ive ever needed it to,and i also think that covering your scalp for a long amount of time, isnt good.I use the one thats made from latex, its much kinder, and you can get the remover for it, also, you shouldny apply these glues to scalp, but its almost impossible to use them and not cover the scalp? thats why i only use this method for occasions.
The best advice is to have an extension technician recommended to you, a good one will offer lots of different methods, and will let you know of one thats best suited for you.Beware of "one trick ponies" micro rings arent suitable for everyone, but i do know of people only offering 1 method, so they will tell you its the best for you.Have a few consultations done, ask for qualifications etc,And remember buy cheap, buy twice.

The liquid gold glue can be very harsh especially when gluing it to the scalp area. You should definitely try a method which suits your hair as one method may not suit another due to hair velocity/thickness/strength/length. Take a look at Belle Hair Extensions | Hair Extension Salon | London | 020 8432 6302 or SMS 07939 211 796 and read up about methods etc xxx

Thanks guys :)

I've had the micro rings before - but after they were taken out I lost masses and masses of hair. I cried for hours and vowed Id never have extensions again, but I just wonders if there was any other methods out there. I don't want to damage my hair.

Hi,

This is my first ever post so here goes....

Im currently trainint to fit micro rings and shrinkies, having had the shrinkies before I found my hair wasnt any more damaged than to begin with, I will be having the micro rings fitted for my wedding next month so hope these will be ok in my hair, Having said that - I dont know you have herd of a micro ring weft? It's a weft of hair attached via a few rings per weft. Looks easier to brush, style and wash

:)
