Hi All....What an amazingly cool site this is and you are all so supportive of each other . . .I think it's great.
I'm hoping that some of that support and advice can come my way. I have a 17yrs old daughter who, although very academic has decided to look for a career that she can combine with being a mum (not yet though!). Personally, I'm quite proud that she's thinking about stuff like that, it's very hard trying to combine being an office or bank type with school holidays and sick children. Also I'd like to think that she realises being a mum and a home maker is a job in it's own right. I'm thinking that if she can take a few courses, maybe hair and nails or make-up, in her gap year then at least she'll have another option. So readers, is there anyone who can advise me on the best places to take courses or any links to genuine reviews of such courses? Thanks so much from a worried mum (who will let go of those apron strings one day)

:wink2: Mum's never stop worrying...

Hi Helen,

There are very few careers that fit perfectly around family life, even teaching is tricky when little ones are poorly.

However, if she's thinking of going onto Further or Higher Education and has training in nails for instance, she could make some money offering her services to fellow students on a mobile type basis.

Tanning/lashes etc. work just as well.

There are lots of courses out there but it depends on where her interests lie and then finding one that meets her needs and budget. Try using the search function on here to view relevant threads. There are tons of threads related to training and I'd recommend sitting down and having a good read through them as they contain useful advice and opinions.

Good luck to you both.
