what are the best make-up brushes? i am going to invest in all new ones what do you use?

Use the best you can afford I never believed that they made a difference before but they really do.

I use a mixture of Jane Iredale and Bobbi Brown:hug:

i used bodyshop ones whilst i was studying and i still do occassionally, then once i qualified i bought brushes from charles fox. which are just great!!

I've been told many times that natural bristles are a must and i think the best on the market are MAC.

I just bought a Studio Tech foundation and foundation brush from MAC, it looks lovely....haven't a clue how to use it though....I'll be having a go later on lol!

for applying liquid foundation a brush with synthetic bristles is better as it does not soak up as much liquid as a natural bristle brush, therefore making yor foundation last longer.

Yes i agree and the MAC Foundation brush is snythetic but the others are natural bristle which is better for most other applications - i didn't realise the question was specific to foundation application - sorry

just to say....i am not a make up artist or anything...just slap my own stuff on, but whenever i need a new brush i am amazed at how expensive they are...i have tried the cheaper ones but end up looking like i have a beard cos they moult so much.

why are they so expensive ????

i guess its liek our l&p or gel brushes hunnio.... the better the quality generally the price is more

personally i have a nice collection of MAC brushes and ive also got a few pout and benefit brushes in there too ;)

edit

just had to go and look at the prices.... i never worry abt it when im buying them!
i dont think between 15 and 30 is bad for a brush imo

I guess just like our L&P brushes they are natural bristles (well most of them of them) and once you've got one of the MAC brushes you shouldn't really need to replace them for a considerable time so its an investment really.

Well I hope I can apply my new foundation with this new brush of mine....£25 for the brush, got the primer too after reading up about stuff like this on the skin geek.....I like to wear foundation as I have crap skin but have never got the 'home' results I desire.

See me tomorrow going to work with big brush strokes down my face!

How do you use a bush for foundation? I always just slap it on with my fingers!

the easiest way is to just have some foundation on the back of your hand, dab the brush into it and apply to your face.
i tend to then dab it in the middle of my forehead and blend out, then my nose and chin and finally dab some on my cheeks and blend out.
it feels weird the first few times you use a brush but when you see how flawlessly you can blend your foundation its hard to go back to anything else!!!

if you have any blemishes you can use a tiny brush for concealer or you can get a little extra foundation on the tip of your finger and pat it on.

Hiya Cathie so do tell did it work for you?
Well I just went for it, not taking too much of the foundation....which was a compact and brushed my face lol concentrating on the areas I didn't like....unfortunately on the way to school in the car my eldest said you look orange....I turned round to the back of the car and my 2 youngest said I didn't look orange....well I didn't think I looked orange! I thought I looked beautifully blended....with time I will perfect it.
