Hi there,

I have been wanting to buy a good pair of Jaguar scissors and had my sights on one, but just recently my funds have been low and i'm not able to buy the more expensive set just yet and i need to get one asap.

So now left with two options but still not sure which one to buy

Jaguar high grade 58

or Jaguar silver ice

For you geeks that use these brands, which one do you think provide's a more better hair cut.

Thanks

When I first did my training I got the Jaguar Silver Ice..... Looking back I would not have chosen them for the simple reason that they have a slightly serrated edge on one of the blades, to me this made slicing, sliding and other techniques apart from the basic blunt cut technique a nightmare because they just grip to the hair too much and pull...... Thats just my opinion though. I also think you should get scissors with a finger rest (cant remember if mine did), better for your hands and looks more professional. Do you need some asap or can you not wait a few more weeks and maybe save a little more?

Hi Craig

Thanks for the reply,

Yep thats the problem i'm having with the one's i'm using now, i find its gripping the hair alot and not allowing a clean cut.

My tutor wants us to bring in some model's next week so i need to find a better pair until then, the course i'm doing is a Diploma so our work will be graded from just a pass, merit or distinction, it would be great to get a distinction. :)

Well I hope you manage you distinction Reesy :) Best of luck!

How much money do you have to spend on some scissors? Also would you consider other brands?

Hey thanks,

Not sure about using another brand not seen any that i've liked, i have seen the one's used from my class but generally some have just bought one's that cost no more then £50, i was going to pay £160 for a Jaguar CJ4's i was told these are good for slicing.

Maybe i should just wait until i can get the one's i wanted, but i think the scissors i'm using now is going to let me down.

If its any help, my scissors are "Jaguar Satin Plus" and they are great for slicing ect. Mine cost £70 but I have seen them for around £50 on ebay.

Hi thanks

Will have a look on ebay and see what one's are a good buy, it's just abit confussing sometimes on what type of blades to look for in the Jaguar brands.

i use jaguar scissors..

i love them but i have different scissors for different cutting techniques

i use my double serrated ones for creating nice blunt cuts

and use these for slicing and texturising (you cant use serrated for slicing because your client will cry in pain..lol)

Jaguar Keito CJ4 Plus 5in Scissor

i also love my thinning scissors for creating texture etc.. but i defo recommend that you need experience with these before attacking anyone's hair with them..

Hi thanks

Some of the cuts i will be doing will be layered, slicing and texturising my scissor's is serrated so not much use in doing these techniques, it looks like i will have to try and find the money from somewhere and get the CJ4's i've only £70 saved so far. Lol

That Jaguar Sterling looks a very nice scissor's, so really i'm looking for a blade with double hand-honed razor edges for slice cutting and the size i want is 6ins, not sure that the Jaguar sterling comes in that size.

I've just enquired about a Jaguar Satin plus, i think i might be lucky they said they would do me a discount offer for £60 + Vat hopefully it will come in a 6in size.

I have always had kashios and love them. Would never have anything else. Definitely worth the money xx

Yeees got my new Jaguar Satin ordered now, the person had done me a great deal so i couldn't refuse a nicely polished scissor's in 6ins all of the price of £60 so i'm very happy now.

Now i need to get practicing to get that distinction grade now.

Well after using my Satin plus scissors on my model yesterday, i just wanted to say how much these helped me getting a top mark on my assessment yesterday.

Loved how these scissors glided through my model's hair, so glad i had bought them and just want to thank everyone for their help in choosing the right scissors.
