best way to carry out bleach bathing at home?

hi salon geeks
i have a client tomorrow who im doing a mild bleach to , to try and remove some dark colour build up ready for a more reddy brown colour
she is 7 months pregnant and was wondering if there was any easier way to do this than bending the poor woman over the bath???

ive not done one before at home like this and just wanted some ideas or tips as to what you peeps do....

she has long thick hair as well just to make it more challenging lol!!

I suffer with my back, and I won't bend over clients baths now, I much prefer the kitchen sink and its more comfy for clients at times, but your client might prefer kneeling on the floor over the bath, she can rest her head on the side of the bath and have abreather if she wants. Maybe ask her what she would prefer to do herself.

I thought you weren't meant to put bleach on your hair when you're pregnant?

Make sure you patch test her being.pregnant. I never apply it over the bath!! To risky.. To close.to the eyes... Apply it the same as you would when applying a full head colour. 4 sections .. Hot cross bun. Start from the bottom.work up, work clean!

Your right spikey I was always under the impression you wasn't allowed to applied when pregnant as the mothers body temperature is alot warmer than if not pregnant plus if this lady needs a toner this also carries risks :-(

It was all ok managed to do it and keep her comfy xx

Bleach baths are fine when preggers. I ment the washing off process over bath or sink. Would have applied as Craig said, same process as tint. Well done x

I just wanted to make it clear for new hairdressers on here, you don't need to patch test for the bleach bath but you do for the toner.

think you need to check into this...
my insurer told me patch testing must be done with any colouring including bleach!!!!!! people can have a reaction from bleach on them !!

Mine too, it's just incase toners are needed.

If you patch test with bleach, you will just irritate the skin. Everyone and anyone would get a skin irritation from prolonged exposure to bleach, so would you just not use bleach on your clients?

It is the allergy to paraphenylenediamine that is dangerous in hair colours. This is not present in bleach.

The patch test is done for the tint or toner to check if you allergic to PPD and bleach don't contain PPD it's incase if the hilights needed a toner after.

But when you do a patch test you aren't meant to mix the tint with peroxide anyway so you still wouldn't know if they had an allergy to peroxide?

You do mix tint and peroxide to patch test.

If you are testing for a bleach allergy but use tint you are going to end up with a false positive result.

I agree, as clients can have a reaction to the chemical reaction between he tint and peroxide.
