Hi everyone

So I start my new job in a nail bar today, eeeeekkk

Later I have a client who wants a soak off and fresh set (not my work, but been assured they are not NSS)

I haven't soaked off before, only on my self. What is the best way? Bowl or cotton wool and foil?

Also am I ok to take the length down using tip cutters first? I wasn't taught this but have seen it in a few videos

Thank You

Personally I would hand file down some of the length/bulk and then soak some cotton wool in acetone and wrap it on the nail with some foil. I'm not a huge fan of soaking the fingers in a bowl of acetone due to the fumes/risk of overexposure.

I also wouldn't use the tip cutters as it seems like it would cause a lot of stress to the nail? Just how I was taught though x

I always just hand file all of the length down as sometimes when the nails are very long and the apex is high you can't fit tip cutters on.

I prefer to file off as much excess as possible then use cotton wool and foils as then you don't have to take the clients whole hand out of a bowl of acetone as the acrylic begins to harden back up once it's been out of the acetone for a little while.

I also find putting a hot water bottle under the clients hands under a towel really speeds up the process as the heat makes the acetone work faster.

So I think I'm in the same boat as every one else, except I use my efile to file off as much acrylic as possible. Then cotton dipped in acetone right onto the nail and wrap in foil. Good luck!
