Hi there,

I'm looking to train in Gel nails & have enquired about both Bio Sculpture & Calgel.
I've had Bio Sculpture done on me before, but had never heard of Calgel.
In looking into it...it seems they are pretty much the same system & that someone left BioSculpture & set up Calgel?
The training is quite a bit cheaper with Calgel & also their products seem to cost a little less. I've found the initial customer service with Calgel much better...in fact Bio Sculpture seem to be a little bit rude.
I'm really torn with which system to go with...I Know it's not always best to go with the cheapest option...but i'm struggling to find added benefits to go with BioSculpture.
Just wondered if anyone had any experience with Calgel or Bio & could give me any help / pointers or starters before I invest the best part of £1000 for the training & products.

Any help would be appreciated! :D
Many thanks

Hi

I don't think there's any difference between them both. I don't know how true it is but I've heard Calgel and Bio Sculpture are the same ? The people that created and owned Bio Sculpture parted and one agreed to keeping the name of Bio whilst the other created Calgel, same product same manufacturer just different branding.
I'm sure someone will put me right on here if I'm wrong however I've known this many years from a reliable source but you know what it's like in the beauty industry it could just be gossip?

Thanks maz2011 - that's what I heard...think Bio sculpture is just a lot more commercial than CalGel....can't see how they can justify the difference in the training & pricing!

Has/does anyone use Calgel & have experience of their training / products / customer service?

i havent used calgel but i do bio sculpture but have heard the top coat yellows with calgel.

Ive been doing bio sculpture for a few years and yes the company need to re think their whole customer service for london as you will see if you join the bio sculpture group and read some of the posts from other techs. The only things i dont like about the product is i can never get it to stay shiny without adding a nail varnish top coat and the removal of it can take forever depending on clients. I will also say that since investing in shellac the majority of my bio clients have gone to having shellac instead and prefer it, they like the fact the shine stays for weeks and it removes so quickly!! The ones who need a little extra strength or help have Brisa lite smoothing underneath. I now rarely do bio sculpture and have stopped buying colours as too many are sitting here unused!!

I don't use Calgel but I've heard they are pretty good. If you've got the money go and do your training with Bio Gel and have their products however if you would like to save some money I don't think you will go wrong with Calgel. Why don't you get the Calgel rep to come out to you to go through their products and ask them to do your nails so you can see and test them for yourself. I'm getting the Cuccio Veneer range in soon but I'm opting for the gel polish not the hard gel as most people prefer the gel polish nowadays...

Thanks Maz...good idea & will call the Calgel rep for more info x

I thought I replied to this.Wheres my post gone i must be going mad :D

Ah there is another in Chit Chat.

I trained in both and personally much prefer Bio Sculpture as it seems to be longer wearing, better colour selection and you don't get the yellowing on the top coat as Souz said :) xx

Bio & Calgel were one & the same thing once upon a time, that was until they divided & went there seperate ways. Bio invested far more money in its system over the years unlike Calgel so Bio has become far more recognised. (The products remain similar but Bio Sculpture have strived to keep evolving & improving so the gels are quite different now)

I DO KNOW for certain that Calgel does go yellow (which is down to overcuring). Bio Sculpture gel doesnt yellow & can't be over cured.

I work only with Bio Sculpture gel & love it. Customer Service has always been ok too :)
