Hi
I am a Brisa trained gel user, and have never tried anything else....I found these claims on the internet, are any of them true?

bio-sculpture is a gel which can be used for extensions or on it own as an overlay. it protects and speeds nail growth, and also nourishes the natural nail. its non-drying and doesn't have to be taken off with acetone. [unquote]

bio-sculpture is a gel which can be used for extensions or on it own as an overlay I'm OK with this one - all systems can be used for extensions and overlay

it protects Yep - I get that bit....

and speeds nail growth I'm not sure about this one???????

and also nourishes the natural nail ?

its non-drying I haven't found any of the 3 systems I use 'drying' - have I just been lucky????

doesn't have to be taken off with acetone I'm assuming it's a non-soakable gel - and therefore needs to be buffed off, so this is a bit misleading as an 'advantage' isn't it?

Now I'm not trying to be nasty, I genuinely don't know about Biosculptue Gel, but some of those sound a little too good to be true?

If they are all correct, could someone confirm it for me please?

Thanks :green:

Hi

I use biosculpture! where did you get this information?

1) Yes of course it will protect the natural nail just like any other system
2) It dosnt dry the nail out
3) It DOES have to be soaked off (prefably in their own solution which is called 'soak off') it comes off in 20 mins.
4) speeds nail growth ~ well they do seem to grow really fast under a natural overlay but i would think they will under any overlay.

Biosculpture is a fantastic product we use it loads in the salon for natural overlays. we use Brisa or Ret+ for tip and overlay and sculpts.

Thanks for that Little Angel

I found the above info on a different chat forum, from a Nail tech who was responding to a question about extensions.

With regard to No.4 (Speeds Nail Growth) I take it this is not a claim by Biosculpture?

Thanks again

Hello

I use Bio Sculpture Gel.
It is a great product and I personally use it for natural overlays and for sculptures.
Most of the statment I do agree with. I don't know where you got your information from but the best place is to go to the Bio Sculpture web site at www.biosculpture.co.uk. Here you will find information about the gel. You can also contact them for any further clarification that you may need.

Cool - thanks for the link Jane - I have a good old read up - if those points are all true it sounds like a great product so I might give it a go :green:

Thanks

The natural nail cannot be nourished as it is non living material.
Any overlay will protect the natural nail but they cannot speed up the nail growth ... protecting the nails so the client is not wearing them down makes it appear that the natural nail is growing faster.

bio-sculpture is a gel which can be used for extensions or on it own as an overlay I'm OK with this one - all systems can be used for extensions and overlay
So can the system you are using ... Correct!

it protects Yep - I get that bit.... So can every other system

and speeds nail growth I'm not sure about this one??????? Nope!

and also nourishes the natural nail ? Nope!

its non-drying I haven't found any of the 3 systems I use 'drying' - have I just been lucky???? Nope ... No quality system will dry out the plate other than temporarily during prep for the overlay.

doesn't have to be taken off with acetone I'm assuming it's a non-soakable gel - and therefore needs to be buffed off, so this is a bit misleading as an 'advantage' isn't it? It's called MARKETING!! Neither type of removal is harmful if done correctly and carefully.

Now I'm not trying to be nasty, I genuinely don't know about Biosculptue Gel, but some of those sound a little too good to be true? Some of the statements are not true.

If they are all correct, could someone confirm it for me please?

It's called MARKETING. We're fed it all the time with words like ORGANIC ... BIO ... etc.
ALL nail products are organic and BIO is just hype. I'd rather hear words like : hypoallerganic, low heat, does not contain acid, gluteraldshyde or acrylates ... things that are positive and true and safer for me and my clients.

All of os are victims or marketing hype ... many times we see companies using 'scare' tactics to try to sell their products ... one that goes around every 3-4 years is that Liquid and Powder products cause cancer!!! Or gel is a safer product than other systems. These statements are untrue and there is absolutely no evidence to support them.

All nail enhancement products are safe to use when used by professionals who have been trained to use them.

Thank You Geeg - you have clarified some of the doubts I had

That's no disrespect to Biosculpture of any of the Tech's using it :D

Hiya Trinity Nails - I've used Bio Sculpture for about 18 months now and I love it (mostly!). It's definitely true as to what others say about it being better for natural nails - I find that the sculptures are not really strong and people who are heavy handed don't seem to get on too well with these!

However, although there's apparently no scientific evidence that the gel makes nails stronger I say that the proof is in the pudding! I have had lots of clients (including myself!) who have said how their nails have grown a lot faster and a lot stronger when they've had bio sculpture nails on for a while as opposed to L&P! I think when I tell a new client this they're not sure if I've just doing a sales talk but when I soak off the gel (which I do every 3rd time or so) they see just how strong their nails seem to have become compared to before.

By saying they don't use acetone doesn't actually mean the gel is not a soak off gel but because they use their own product called soak off. There seems to be a lot more ingredients in this than acetone and they seem to be of the opinion it is not so harsh as acetone - how much truth there is in this thought I'm really not sure as I always use the soak off and have not tried acetone to remove the product.

So if it's a natural nail gel overlay you're looking for I would definitely recommend it but I much prefer to use L&P (which I'm still having a lot of problems with tho I might add!) for nail extensions as it is much stronger.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

I've got a client next week who has already got a full set of bio-sculpture nails on. She wants me to do her in-fills but I use Balance gels by NSI. I know that Bio-sculpture in soakable but I don't think there is any need to do that. Is there any reason why I can't just file them down slightly and go over them with Balance. She only had her current set put on last week.

I use Bio Sculpture Gel, I only use Bio Sculptue Gel, I love the product.

When doing sculptures, i do have to do them at the most, 5mm and i re-inforce with silk.

Another nail tech who uses bio sculpture and s\who had a go at brisa only said that brisa took longer to apply.

As far as soak off goes, im advised that the bio sculpture soak off product contains 90% acetone and also lanolin, to counter react the drying effect of aceton.

I'm also advised that Bio Sculpture gel is the only gel that does not contain any acrylic, and that the main ingredient in the product is a sap, derived from a tree in South Africa.

Its really hard to decide what product is best. I guess you have to try them and find one that you are comfortable with.

Hope this helps.

I seriously beleive you only need to saok off Bio Sculpture Gel when it starts to get too thick or changing from a colour back to clear.
