Argh.

Today I had a client who wanted her base color back (2/0) and then some blonde highlights with some pink thrown in there. PS. It took WAY more than I was expecting and she seemed to be getting restless towards the end.

No matter what I did, the blond always grabbed the black. I washed it with cold water, kept the foils in the best I could while doing so and it still grabbed. Anybody have any tips/tricks/ideas on how to get through this better?

She seemed to like it okay, more blonde got covered up than I personally wanted with the black. She said she would come back sometime for more blonde.

HOWEVER: She said that whenever her pink fades she just goes and covers it up with all black anyway (she has had this color combination before, years ago)

I am still worried sick about it, I wish I could just leave work at work, I guess its a good thing I care this much about my clients? Meh.

First of all is there a permanent pink? Was her base already a 2 when she came in or was you taking her back to 2?

Do you use a color extractor in your salon ie: pravana, vanish??? I mix a little in a breaker and just rub it thru the blonde ends, maybe for 1 - 2 min, then rinse, works like a charm. Go right onto the wet hair at the bowl, and if your quick with it, it will not disturb the level 2 at all. Just enough to make the over porous ends let go. Easy in usually means easy out.

I was taking her back to a level 2, we don't use any color extractor at all. I never even heard of that!!!

Could you send me a link of this product? :green:

Color Vanish - Hair Color Removal - Windsor Beauty Supply

I forget sometimes, that many of you geeks dont use this or a like product.....it is basically a reverse color process. It only works on permanent oxidized color, so not for punky stain, but it is a must have for me.
it can be applied up to 3 times over, each time it reacts with the color molecules in the hair, then shrinks them so that clarifying removes the old color.....one of the only damage free color removers that I know of.... You apply it to damp hair, bag and under the dryer for 20 min, then clarify and really work and scrub the hair, every client is different as to how much lift you will get, but when you are done you do a quick rinse of 10 vol to check for leftover color, as it will reoxidize and show....only 'tricky' part is your target level has to be formulated 2 levels lighter. For some reason color develops darker after a vanish treatment...but the rule of 2 levels works for me every time.

Oh thank you!!! I may have to pick this up and try it at home!!!

What a dream come true!!!
