Hi Salon Geeks

I have been a snooper on the site for a long time now but never got around to joining! I am a MUA and training in beauty….however my knowledge regarding hair is zero so looking for some hair advice please…

- I am naturally brunette
- I have had blonde highlights (full head) for a number of years now
-My full head of ‘blonde’ was actually silver/gray
-Used L’oreal silver shampoo for Grey and White hair to maintain my colour

After a bad trip to the hairdressers (my normal hairdresser now on leave) my roots were very orange. Went to a new hairdressers (advertised as a colour specialist!) as I decided to go full head silver/gray, they did:

-gentle cleanse…. Leaving it orange
-colored my whole head (using different %’s on dark roots compared to the hair which was already bleached) which left it yellow
-Put a toner on which they told me would leave me with my desired colour.

:sad:I sat back down in front of the mirror to see yellow hair. I looked bald. Running my fingers through my hair left me with a clump in my hand.

I arrived home in total panic and put a brown dye on my hair. It took well and I now have a nice brown shade which I have allowed to fade at the bottom. I look like I have gone for the ombre effect.

Four weeks down the line, I am washing my hair carefully twice a week, using no hairdryer or straightners and have used protein products and moisturising products and my hair is in better condition.

I do wish to go back to my original colour (see this link ) for similar photo. I miss my dirty silver hair colour a lot.

Condition is important to me so until I am happy my hair will not fall out or snap I am staying away from the colour.

I am now without a hairdresser who I feel knows what they are doing, and totally scared my next trip will produce a orange/yellow colour.

Does anyone know of a good colourist in the Bradford or Leeds area...and what I should be asking for? As even showing the colour to cetrain hairdressers has produced yellow results!!

Thank you :)

cant you contact your old hairdresser and ask if she wants a mobile client , lol or at least ask her what she used to get the right effect you are wanting xx

Thanks Dee... That's a good idea, I didn't think of contacting her directly. Suppose the worst she can say is No!

i would stay away from blonding for a little while until ur hair is in better condition.. if it was falling out and snapping off after ur previous blonde, i definitely wouldnt risk more blonde unless u want a very short hair cut x
