Hi, I need a little advice, my sons girlfriend is naturally dark blode and has bleach highlights, she now wants to go plum and i have picked up a wella koleston perfect shade 55/65. Will i need to put a base shade with this or just apply. I just do bridal hair now and am a bit rusty in colouring so any help or advice would be greatly appreciated !!!!!!

Thank you

The bleached/heavily highlighted sections will need pre-pigging x

The blonde highlights will obviously grab the color differently.. But I personally like to not pre-pig. Makes the end result look dimensional with all the same tones and different levels. Pre-pigging will give a more even, all over color look. Guess it depends what the GF wants! But that color is gorgeous, love wella KP, especially the vibrants.

Thats lovely, thanks for your help !! Could I do 1/4 base shade and 3/4 colour 55/65 ?

thank you x

If you added some base it would kill the warmth because of the flat pigment in the base. Maybe use a /3 if you feel you need to cover grey but I would just do 55/65 if you want it not so in your face 55/66 is a great alternative hope this helps.

55/66 is more purple, 55/65 is more pinky.

I put 55/54 on my bleached hair and it went like 77/45. I would pre pig then tint with 55/66.

I kept telling her 55/66 would be better but she wanted it more pinky !!! teenagers !!! thats a great help thank you xx

I would pre-pig the highlights with color fresh 5/4 Wash out and towel dry, partially dry with hairdryer, then apply your chosen Koleston shade mixed with a quarter of the base shade.

you could aways put a cap on her and stick her under heat.. i find that it helps the color take better. and if you do pre-peg, then use a /4... if she wants it vibrant that is.
