Hi girls,

i have recently trained with CND in acrylic, brisa gel, shellac and minx.

im loving shellac and minx. but struggling with acrylic and gel.

Il start to tackle brisa gel first as many of my potential clients wish to have that done as they want an extension, rather that the shellac on its own.

i did my first 2 clients last weeks 2 sisters in one night, they were nail biters one girl was the worst i had ever seen. i applied brisa gel french with tips. they rang on friday to say a couple had lifted and chipped and one had come off, that was both of them. i went round friday evening to correct them.

they contacted my again on sunday to say some had completely come off. i was due to go round tonight to sort them and they re-arranged, which im glad of so i had time to think what i could do to prevent this. or they just thought well she must not know what shes doing so we'l not have them done again by her???

my prep, cuticle away, water wash, shape natural nail 240 grit, scrub fresh really well to remove oil.
add tip then cut, file and buff the step out.
scrub fresh one hand and applied base coat cure 10 seconds
pure pink gel cured 2 minutes
white paint for french tip - tidy with clean gel brush wiped with scrub fresh
then clear layer with apex on top - i do struggle with this not being lumpy cure 2 minutes
wipe off sticky layer with scrub fresh
blizzard white board for side walls and shape
grey boomerang to remove bumps
dust brush - but i dont have one so have not done this step
gloss and cap ends - cure 2 minutes
scrub fresh off sticky layer
solar oil

please help with my lifting, loss of nails and chipping????? i have only done three clients in total with brisa gel but really nervous now about doing anyone else until i find what im doing wrong!!!!:!:

has anyone else felt like this when they first started?

Thanks in advance xxxxx

I would say your problem is the nail biter herself. Shouldn't do nail biters when you are new at nails. They trash your work and just make you feel inadequate and like the guilty party. Then you give freebies and are on the road to loosing money and confidence.

Don't let them get you down.

You shouldn't be using Scrubfresh to remove the sticky layer, use D-sperse.

Nail biters will still bite or pick enhanced nails. Ensure you stay away from the cuticle with your gel to avoid lifting, if a nail biter spies lifting, they will pick!!

D-sperse brill il get some. I did think it was going to be a nightmare doing a nail biter I couldn't believe it wen I saw them. I was so deflated this morning after hearing my first 2 gel clients kept having problems then my third client at work 3 of her nails the tips had chipped. I put shellac on top of hers but not 100% sure on the steps for gel for length then shellac.

Thanks for your advise I love this site.

Sorry but that information is incorrect.
Dsperse is recommended for removal of inhibition layer from Shellac as it is acetone free.
Brisa is a buff off gel and its recommended to use Scrubfresh to remove all surface contaminants and oil while leaving behind pathogen fighters.
You can also use d'sperse if you wish but the statement you gave is not correct.

As Gigi said some of the hardest people to apply enhancements to are nail biters, they destroy their nails within hours by picking and chewing at them.

For a new nail professional I would advise you to not enhance them instead try and get them onto a nail biters program, ie regular manicures and nail care appointments until the nails have a suitable amount of free edge for you them to apply tips, With nail biters you have to make sure you cut out a saddle in the tip to fit over the bulbous skin so that the tip fits snuggly and is not pushed off from the finger or nail plate.

Also you should scrubfresh after you have applied the tip to the nail as the adhesive works better when there is moisture on the nail plate. Then once you have blended the tip in apply scrubfresh only to the natural nail not the tip as applying scrubfresh to the tip will lead to cracks and service breakdown due to the acetone in scrubfresh.

Re the chipping this will happen either if you have applied scrubfresh over the tip causing cracks or because you have filed the product too thin on the edge. The tip needs to be filed micro thin before you apply your product to allow for this.

Dont beat yourself up over it.
