Hi everyone! I really need some help with my brisa gel's! I havent done a full set yet without one or more nails popping off or breaking at point were tip is attached! Im doing as follows;

PREP
removing non living tissue
wiping away
removing shine
scrub fresh
applying tip, blending (white tips.i know i should b using clear but having probs with smile lines, putting in plenty of practise tho!
scrub fresh
liquid bond (2-3 nails at a time)
thin layer of clear sculpting gel, cure 4mins as using white tips
build apex with clear sculpting gel, cure 4mins
another thin layer of gel to fill in low spots, cure 4mins
buff
uv finishing gloss,cure 4mins

I know i shouldnt be using white tips but im having same probs with natural as well! Im def carrying out a thorough prep! I know other people using white tips arnt having same probs. Im gunna book a cnd one to one but could do with some help before if anyone can help? Also clients are asking for uv finishing gloss over l&p,i know it works and looks fab but what extra are you charging for this service? Sorry to go on Ti x

Sounds like your procedure is OK (apart from the cure time is 2 minutes per layer of gel not 4 ... or are you including both hands there??)

Your problems could be from not applying the initial layer correctly .... this layer should be 'scrubbed' onto or worked well into the nail surface and not building the enhancement correctly (ie strong enough). It is hard to tell at first with gel just how strongly you are building it. I think a class or 121 would be a good idea if you are not an experienced gel user.

Thanx for your reply. I was curing 4mins at a time as i was using white tips and someone told me you have to double cure as the uv lamp couldnt penetrate white tips to fully cure gel! I wasnt scrubing the first layer in either i was told to apply as if applying nail polish?

Hi Tina, It is only the white sculpture gel that needs to be cured from both sides for a complete cure. If using the white sculpting gel over the white tip then doing 4 minutes was good thinking.

If you are using clear or pink sculpting gel over the white tip, then 2 minutes under the Brisa UV Lamp is ample.

Definitely that first thin layer of sculpting gel needs to be worked well onto the surface to get a good covalent bond to the plate. Applying like nail enamel doesn't do it. Keep the layer thin and work it on well .... you will see a big difference.
