Hi Debsy has probs with her pc at mo - can anyone help her with this problem shes encountering ?

"I did full set of Brisa on stylist at work last friday, by sunday I noticed some of the tips had dark brown patches on them, very confusing,

i buffed them down and the brown was right through the gel but only on five nails,

she said she had not filed them or done anything out of the ordinary it just appeared!!

need to get to the bottom of this if anyone has any suggestions i would be very grateful."

Hi

I have a client that on last re-balance had 'brown stains' on her Brisa enhancements. What I have put this down to is her 'cleaning fetish' she will not wear rubber gloves and is constantly cleaning. Something in one of the cleaning products she is using? She understands that she should wear gloves but won't! It was so time consuming gently buffing these 'brown stains' away they were like the colour of tea. Something out there doesn't agree with Brisa! Its my only problem with it so far....Anyone else have any ideas what could cause it?

OK, hope this gets posted this time as Karren said i have been having problems with PC.
as the post above, the stains do look like dark tea coloured marks my client had mainly on her right hand and two small marks on the left, please has anyone any more suggestion as to why and what has caused this?  :irked:

I think you should be asking the client.

It certainly is not normal and Brisa would never go brown on its own, so How could anyone possibly answer this question but the client?? Only she knows what she has been into.

I dont no that much yet but could it possibly be from ur brush? do you ever store it standing up? as the liquid may run inside the brush and make the colour of the metal round the brush come out. im probably way off mark. sorry.

did you say tou did them on a stylist at work? is this a hair stylist?... the brown marks in question i havee seen on one of my clients... shes a hairdresser!!!... its hair colouring and just a touch or contact is enough to send the tips brown!!! di you say it was on 4 fingers?... certaininly not the product... look at the chemicals in hair colourants.. if she is a hairdresser i am afraid that is why...

oh Gigi i know and i asked her loads, she said she's done nothing different apart from a new bubble bath and asked if that could be it :( as if!
actually thinking now, she has been doing some extra work behind a bar somewhere , wonde if its a cleaning product or something, have'nt a clue. she is one of the stylists at work and when our boss saw them and did not have an explanation as to why i thought she was doubting my abilities and i was heading for the chop, but the boss booked herself in for a full set today, all went fine i just hope nothing happens to hers
Sooooooooooooooooooo frustrating when you don't know why something has happened !!!
oh and Chloe its Brisa Gel i used so does not have the contamination problems you can get with liquid :)

Well one thing you can be certain, the gel does NOT discolour.

The only thing that could be causing it is something she is doing. Hair dye sounds like a very good possibility for one girl ... home hair colour?? Who knows what they are doing, but you can trust the fact that it is not the product ... you can be very firm on that one.

Hi Raquel,,,,
yes you are right about the hair dye they use but Marisa (the stylist) was off work last week and came in on the Friday for her nails doing and she noticed the staining on Sunday, so that one is ruled out but yes i have encountered the colour on them when they have not worn their gloves like they should :irked: i do keep reminding them!!!!

oh ok, c i said i did not no much!! just clutching at straws and trying to impress and make out i no more than i do!!!

Thanks Gigi,,,,,,i just needed to be reassured it would not have been anything to do with the product, sure it was'nt but you know when you just need to know for def!!! I can go in tomorrow very confident about this infact i'm going to print this thread and take in with me,,,,,,,
still bugging me wot caused it though eh?

It sounds to me like she may have filed them as well, maybe if she has then hair colour or anything may have seeped into the edge slightly, and working in a bar alcohol would discolour them the same way

actually Chloe that is not a silly remark; this can happen with L+P but gel brushes do not normally have the same problems because Gel is a very thick consistency and does not tend to run into the the ferrel in the same L+P can! I was going to answer but Geeg did it for me - I too would ask the client - BRISA does not go brown by itself - you say that she says she has done nothing but I would think she must have done something...mho!

does she wear false tan by any chance???? if she does and its not washed off her hands and nails correctly, that could maybe cause a stain

antony

It's odd that the brown would be all the way through cos isn't Brisa a non porous gel? I sometimes get this with the gel I use, but it tends to be on the surface, and the clients own up to doing something they shouldn't have!! Not doubting you Debsy, but are you sure it is right the way through the gel?

I had bio gel nails on 4mths ago and they cracked and had black cracks through them also. I put it down to the flash wipes that I was using it seems to be that chemical products whether they are liquid or wipe form will damage any gel enhancement! I have just done the Brisa gel nail course last week so I will advise the client that by using rubber gloves this will help to protect the gel. I think instead of selling a bottle of solar oil to clients we should have a box of marigolds on the shelf!!!

I have been looking into this and even sent Doug a link to read the thread.

He commented that they have never heard or seen of anything like this unless there was a curing issue (using a differing lamp to the Brisa one).

Brisa is pretty freaking solvent and stain resistant (hence the solvent inability to soak it off easily... it is too hard for acetone to penetrate quickly). Gels like BS and CG are not solvent resistant so I can see staining there.
The only thing I can think of right now is:
The nails were buffed instead of finished with UV finishing Gloss
The UV finishing gloss pulled away from certain areas of the tip as it may have been finished too smooth or there may have been dust or contaminants left behind which would have cause UV finishing Gloss to pull away from that area.

The real question is: Does it quickly and lightly buff off? Are you finishing with a clear coat or enamel?

Hope this helps

That was one of my first thoughts also. Stylist/colour.Maybe your brush has the yellow thing happening[dissolved glue]& when placed under the Uv[not he brush] it changes from yellow to brown? I'm starting my Grand Masters & have to admit I am a BIT nervous but now I've found this site with all the GREAT Techs & the veritable pool of info I hope that it goes o.k. I know I dont know as much about gel as I do acrylic & definately this is a confidence thing. Also there 's a product called Spraysheen which is an oily gloss some H/Salons ues this to pull the streals through or as a final step for shine WELL this when it's airborne we're only breathing it yuk! but if it settles on the surface of polish or acrylic it mottles & basically wreaks the finish.I've had to remove & buff [white block]& start again[repolish]We agreed that the girls would say SS & we'd cover our work. Can't say what it would look like cured under Uv.Maybe it's something airborne in the Salon.Hopes this helps. jnail AUSTALIA.

Thank you all sooooooooooo much for your replies and Samuel for forwarding to Doug but you know what, i did the set absolutely by the book using the Brisa lamp and finishing with the finishing gloss, the brown marks did not appear till 2 days after applied and as said earlier Marisa was not even working she was having time off so there was no threat of hair dyes or anything,,,,,yes the colour was through the gel and did buff off easily,i re-applied and they have been fine since, i am doing re-balance on them tomorrow. A few people have mentioned cleaning products etc and i'm wondering if this is the culprit, she was working behind a bar on the saturday night after having them done on the friday and if you imagine holding a cloth whilst cleaning these were the nails affected on her right hand, there was only a slight mark on her left little finger nail, Suppose its one of those things i may never know why and i'm sooooooo mad with myself that i did not take a piccie to show you all before i buffed it off :irked:
thanks again everyone. x
