i recently removed a set of gel sculpts from myself and i noticed i have some discolouration under my nail, its slightly paler than the rest i looked underneath and i think i have broken my hyponychium.(theres no pain) i`m still pretty new to this so i`m not sure, the skin underneath has peeled slightly. will this heal its self and how long does it usually take? do i have to let it heal completely before reapplying enhancements? any advice will be appreciated.

How did you remove your Gel sculpts?

I wouldn't call what you describe as a broken hyponychium...it sounds as though it has progressed into Onycholysis...which is nail plate seperation......where the nail plate gets derailed from the nail bed.

This is a contraindication for nail enhancements....and as it sounds like a mild case then you should use a cuticle oil like Solar Oil on all of your nails and
particularly behind the nails which have this problem (at the hyponychium). This will help the nail to reattach as it grows.

If you do a search on site on onycholysis you will find load of information. HTH

thank you for the reply izzidoll, i have been using oil and it hasnt got any worse thankfully. i think i may have been guilty of overfiling, thankfully i only practise on myself and my trusty hand trainer.
