Hi,

I have had this client now for over two years and we have never had a problem, she has always soaked off herself and does a good job. However, she is recently fallen pregnant and has sent me the following photos after removal. Can you please advise if this is to do with pregnancy?!

I have suggested putting strengthener on them for now and lots of oil, is this safe to apply calgel to in a weeks time?

Many thanks,

That could possibly look like something fungal, but then again it might not be. We can't really diagnose... She should possibly see her GP just in case. :)

It does look like it might be fungal especially if it has appeared within a few weeks.
I would say she should see a doctor for a diagnosis- only then will you know how to proceed.

If it turns out to be neither fungal or bacterial then I think I would just go with normal polish until the baby arrives plus 3 months more.
Once she's changing nappies , long nails won't be so essential any more!

Hi Rhea

I agree with the other comments...personally I wouldn't do anything to them due to the nail infection concerns..Send her to a GP please don't risk your business.

I had an older lady present her nails with the same looking marks. I have refused gels/polish since Christmas and have only carried out a basic dry mani (cuticle tidy and dry file/shape and popped a bit of fungal solution onto the nail) then given her the file to use and charged her a half price polished mani. You could do similar or maybe pedi for her instead.

I think I may have recently lost my lady but I definitely do not want to risk spreading the infection..

...long story short..don't do it unless she comes back with GP confirmation (written)..offer her a different treatment pedi or facial ..just be careful of the products inbrespect of her pregnancy (Vit A etc)

xx

I had a lady who’s thumb did this and it was her nail
That had detached from the nail bed. Usually caused by nails being pulled in the opposite direction (by slipping off door handle when wet, pulling clothes out washing machine and any other way we rip off extentions) whether it’s fungal or damage I’d be telling her to leave them off until they’re better. It’s not worth ur reputation. And if she insists on putting them back on have her sign a disclaimer. [emoji6]
