Thanks Gillian, I too have the old type of certificate and order regularly with no prob. I was asking Pink Pink Pink as she has the new type of dated certificate to see if it really means what the others are assuming; that it stops them ordering after the expiry date, maybe Karen Calgel will come back on and put their minds at rest.

That would be great if Karen could clarify but I plan to call HO on Monday anyway.

I am primarily a Beauty Therapist offering Calgel NNO's therefore I have a lot of stock and only reorder as I need certain products. I am happy to update my skills but prefer to choose product lines that allow ME to choose WHEN!

As professionals who have invested in Calgel I expect to be treated (and for products to cost me) the same as all of Calgel's other customers. I treat all of my clients to the same service and prices regardless of wether they come to me weekly or monthly.quarterly or yearly.

If this is indeed Calgel's new policy then I will be looking for another product line.

Have you placed and received orders from Calgel since 22nd April 08?

Yeah... They've rang me a few times too, to see if I needed anything but I'm pregnant at the moment (due New Years Day) so I'm not doing clients right now.
That's the date they issued my certificate, I'll try ringing on Monday to see if I'm going to 'run out' in April next year - I hope not, that's when I'll be getting ready to do clients again!!

Congratulations! I hope you have a lovely baby, what a lovely way to bring in a new year!:green:

I miss understood I thought that was the expiry date lol.
I cant see a company as big and as professional as Calgel training you and then denying you products. We all learn with experience and since your training you would have learned a lot more about Calgel by using it.
Why would they then stop selling to you? It does not make sense and I am sure you will find this out when you phone them.

I love the fact that they phone us to see if they can help, very professional customer support.

Hi All,

Anyone who trained before April 2008 and has a Calgel certificate will not have an expirey date.

In April 2008 we introduced the valid for 2 years certificates, this is to keep everyone updated with new products, advanced techniques, new applications. We are really proud of our industy standards, its really in place to benefit Calgel users. This is not uncommon within other industry's and is something that was thought long and hard about before we brought it in.

I myself have been in the industry for over 13 years and i believe strongly about continual Education, on any given course you only take on around 40% of the information given, i learn something new every time i complete a course with Calgel which i do all of the time.

If you have any questions please feel free to e-mail me on [email protected]

Many thanks

Perhaps then Calgel need to make it clear to anyone thinking about training with them that there is an expiration on their qualification BEFORE they pay their money and receive their certificate.

I am all for ongoing education, however I do not expect to be told that after having saved up for the Calgel course that my qualification is no longer valid 2 years later and to find that out only when the certificate arrived in the post is just ridiculous & very misleading.

I am not prepared to continue using the Cagel products for the remainder of my term of qualification or carry out any further training with this company as a result of feeling mislead. I cannot display my certificate in my salon next year as clients will think that I am no longer qualified.

Calgel need to be crystal clear and upfront about this as many of us have saved up to pay for these courses and do not expect to not be told about this monumental issue.

Calgel explained all of this to me before i booked and paid for the course.

Well that's great that they put you in the frame. No where in the literature that I was given and at no point at the time of enquiring and booking the course at the beauty school I went to was this ever mentioned.

I have written a letter of complaint both to Calgel and to the beauty school I attended.

Hi Chloe,

I'm very Sorry to hear that the College didn't make you aware of this, i have brought this up with the lady who looks after all college's training with Calgel who will have a chat with the college and make sure this happens going forward

Mary Reid is the only college at present who offers Calgel certificates, we offer this for those students training at the college as the Mary Reid college lecturers attend training with us every year to update their skills.

Once again Chloe i am very sorry you were not imformed of this, if you can contact me on [email protected] i will be very happy to talk about this further.

The Calgel website does not appear to be working at the moment so I cannot check whether or not Calgel charge for the additional training course and whether Calgel will stop supplying nail technicians if they do not attend further courses. Could you clarify this please?

Hi Chloe

If you can contact me directly at Calgel on either 01582 798920 or e- mail me [email protected] i will be able to help you further.

Many thanks

I went direct through Calgel so that might be why, and no it wasn't in the literature i recieved it was all explained over the phone.

So it's true? Is this for all Calgel or just the UK?

In my opinion, this policy is rubbish. Frankly, especially with what appears to be the majority of techs not even being told that their cert expires, this marketing ploy seems like a way to make people come back so a company can make more money on forced re-certifications. I'd change that policy and fast.

For all technicians trained before 2008 your certificate does not expire. For all those technicians trained after April 2008 your certificate does have an expirey date. This is on our website and is covered at courses ran by Head Office.

If you do not wish to attend advanced training to learn new techniques you do not have to, we will not be stopping supplying goods to those who have an expired certificate and have never stated this.

This is our piece on the day -

Come along to a great day with Calgel training team and discover any new and advanced Calgel techniques. We will also recap each of the vital applications (Natural nail overlays, Tips and sculptures) with an added twist so you can offer your client something different!

As part of Calgel’s ethos we feel that training is VITAL! We believe that we are not only investing in a product but we are investing in a future. We feel that it is important that we are always updating our skills and ensuring that we are always aiming for an OUTSTANDING NAILS!

As a company we felt that ongoing training isn’t only a benefit for the company but a benefit for everyone involved in Calgel. We now request that everyone attends Calgel training every 2 years, to ensure that their skills and techniques are up to Calgel standard as well as a chance to update on any new techniques that the company have developed, may it be new products, or new applications.

It is for this reason we have kept the prices to a minimal, as well as offering you special training offers, and ensuring the best training in the industry!!

As before if you have any questions feel free to e-mail me on [email protected]
