hi girls, i do tanning, so anything hair is foreign to me!!
6 months ago i had my bleach blonde hair ombred due to not being able to afford highlights all the time!
my base colour is honey blonde anyway.
when i came out of the salon my husb noticed it looked kahki, i went back and she put a very dark brown then over this ( which i might add i paid another £30 for) hate complaining!
..Anyway i hated it i was brunette ombre, cried bit, now 6 months later i look aubern with gold ends, so my question is.......
what do i need to ask for when i go back to the salon, can i go back blonde again? Or have another semi perm put on? I font want to go darker just get rid of this awful brassiness???!!!
sorry for waffling!

Sounds like you need to find another hairdresser. Covering Khaki tinged hair hair brown and charging for it ???

Why not visit a couple of salons and ask for a consultation. Tell them your hair history and see what they advise. They may want to take small test cuttings first. Also, if they don't ask you to have a skin test, walk away.

What look is it you're after?
You could go back to highlights if you wanted. But you're back to square one with getting you're roots done.

To keep the ombré you have 2 options:

1: ask them to lift the darker colour to a lighter shade (this will cost more as it'll need more colour and take more time) it'd be classed as a colour correction.

2: ask to stay at the same depth it is now (how dark it is) ask them to use a tone to cancel the warmth in it.

Also, if they don't ask you to have a skin test, walk away.

Love this. So true. Too many salons don't skin test and get away with it.

Bleach doesn't need a skin test so technically that's not true if you have a walk in appointment.

The guidelines are skin test if the product require, in some cases it's not. So it's not a case of branding these salons unprofessional.

What about toners?

We use goldwell elumen, skin testing not needed. We still practice skin tests where needed, but we do stock products allowing for those last minute hair emergencies that life throws at us :)

I keep hearing so many good things about elumin. Do you have to buy it direct? My local suppliers don't stock it.

I love it!!

I've trained In many brands and I'm currently using loreal but we still stock this and we use it on nearly everyone!

You can only buy it direct from goldwell.

It's very cost effective too.

I trained initially at college using Goldwell and we were taught it was good practice to skin test. I think that's just common sense as someone can have a reaction to anything these days. I react to crazy colour and Fudge tints for instance. Even if you're just bleaching, you might require a toner afterwards or a purple shampoo?

However, I haven't used Goldwell (inc. Elumen) for a couple of years and so haven't read the manufacturers instructions for this product recently. Does it state no skin test required?

Yes no skin testing needed.

Don't get me wrong we still skin test where possible. But on a busy high street that's not always possible. AND to keep up with manufacturer recommendations we have this.

If you use a brand that states 48hours prior to every application. I'd like to find someone who actually manages to do this.

I know 3 salons now being sued due to skin testing 24hours before not 48hours.

Just to add if someone had a history of reactions like that especially to crazy colour then recommendations aren't to colour hair.

Nooo. I couldn't not colour my hair. ;-)

It's weird because I'm ok with Wella, T&G, Osmo, L'Oreal etc. No reaction at all.

The crazy colour gave me an itchy red rash. :-/

thank you Hun , i have such bad luck with hairdressers, so if anyone does know a fab one Bicester/Oxford way let me know! Its amazing how your hair makes you feel isn't it?! X
