So does anybody know the answer to what I asked in my post (3 up from here I think!)

I have never heard of anyone being 'struck off' or having to retrain. No one would anyway they would just change brands. If they were so bad to encourage a company to ask them to retrain they wouldn't care what the company thought of them. Would they? :D

If the question is could we make you retrain or is it in the small print? The answer is no.

However if there were legitimate complaints against a nail pro and let's say their last completed classes were 2/3 years ago... we could refuse to sell the professional products until update training was completed. This really is hypothetical but I guess it could happen.

It is not something we have ever done but if I thought it warrented it and that there were enough legitimate complaints to us.. I would do that. It would be the responsible thing to do should unprofessional treatments be given and customers were complaining left, right and centre.

All nail pros should completing at least one new class per year anyway! HTH's.;)

Thanks for the answer! I guess if someone did produce work was sooooo bad it wouldn't be long before they had no clients & as result no money to buy supplies anyway! Was just curious that's all.

You're so right - probably why we have never had to enforce this! You're welcome!;)

Thank you to everyone at S2 for your support and back up but unfortunately this is not going to stop this client.

She would not accept what I and S2 were saying and is aderment that she is now going to trading standards and telling everyone she knows never to come to me. She called me a lier and was so abusive - I wouldn't hurt a fly!

I am so distraught, I think I am going to close and will lose all the money I have put into it. Why me? I hope this never, ever happens to anyone else. x x x

Honey.....I'm sure we have all encountered clients who are not happy with us or our services, regardless of whether its our fault or not. I had a woman a few months ago, who said the colour I had done in her hair last week (when in fact it was 3 weeks before) had disappeared out of her hair. I know for a fact thats not possible but she wanted me to committ to fixing it before she would let me see it. i told her to come up, id look at it and we'd take it from there and she was right huffy, and never turned up to see me! But what I mean is that was one person who was right p***ed off with me...but my business has been in no way affected. This woman has prob done this to a million and one salon owners in the past...and people wil know what she's like. Do you have more than one happy customer? I bet you do. and I bet they gush about your fabulous nails that you do every day...and you will build and build on all the GREAT WORK YOU DO!!!!!!!

Please don't even think about shutting up shop. One day this will all be a distant memory, you won't have time to think about this silly woman cos you'll be so flaming busy with super happy clients!!!!!!!!!!!!

Really, what is she going to achieve. We've already established that she can't have you certificates taken from you by S2 or CND, and Trading Standards won't touch it either, how long has it been since you initially did the nails? Honey the worst she can do is shout her mouth of, and as I said before people will know what she's like. I bet she's got a new thing to whinge about every day. hugsxxxxxx

Don't be so silly!! And don't be mad at me for saying so. You either believe in yourself or you don't. Stop letting her intimidate you. Are you really going to let some nobody win and affect you this way. SHE WILL GO AWAY AND YOU HAVE TO STOP HAVING ANY INTERACTION WITH HER. If she calls you tell her to get in touch with your insurance company in writing ... that is what insurance companies are for. DO NOT SPEAK TO HER AFTER THAT.

I had a mature student once who threatened to sue me and my manicuring school because I wouldn't give her money back for a course she had attended. She got really stroppy saying she was allergic to the products, that it was making her asthmatic and that we had never mentioned it on the course!! I told her to get in touch with my insurance company and ceased any communication with her. Surprisingly she did just that. But I knew and could prove that we had taught this student all about COSHH, health & Safety and overexposure and gave them a copy of the test she had taken which covered all those questions ... insurance company was delighted .. I was delighted and she went away with nothing.

For goodness sakes believe in yourself and stick to your guns and you have the law on your side. Maybe you are very young so you are reacting in this way ... forget her and let the pros deal with it.

DO NOT give up just because of this one idiotic woman!! Can I ask what the problem actually was with her nails??

Everyone learns from their mistakes and this could make you stronger! You need to get in touch with your insurance company and at least make them aware of the situation as it's better for them to hear it from you first.

It sounds like you have done everything right but maybe it's an idea to have client's sign their treatment card which YOU keep and on this, include everything re: refund policy and treatment advice so that (even thought you give them an aftercare advice note when they leave you) they have signed to confirm they take full responsibility?

I have a friend who is 'banned' from most hairdressers in our city believe it or not because she complains constantly and we all know she is just a chancer! She always thinks she's right though so there's no arguing but despite what she says about these places, no one listens as we know what she's like! This woman sounds just like her!

Your work will speak for itself and you have done all you can. She might not be happy with that but that's just tough as some of the other geeks have said. If you live in a really small town or village then I would maybe try some damage control but other than that, I wouldn't give her another thought! xxx

I am on the verge of giving it all up! I have just spent a fortune on Shellac too!

I made an earlier post about a client's complaint. Following my own thoughts and advice from others (thank you, I really do appreciate your help and I am not being sarcastic) I told my client that I would not be able to give her a refund for a set of acyrlic overlays as it was over two weeks later that she complained and did not actually come back to see me and show me her nails.

She has now said that she will will report me to trading standards and has already reported me to CND!!!! She is also threatening me with slander against mt name.

I am absolutely distraught. She is claiming that Creative have said they are disgusted with what she has told them and if I do not refund her then they will need me to retrain and send people round to have their nails done to assess me???

I hope there is someone nice on the phone tomorrow when I ring Sweet Squared to find out what on earth is going on!:sad:

Has anyone else been in this position?? All I am trying to do is earn a small living to support my family and enjoy doing nails. x x
hi I am CND nail technican and I am a very sad to hear that kind of story , but you should not worry about it because if this lady was not happy with your service she should to tell you about it and show what is wrong when she saw it ,sometimes even masters nail technican made some worst nails. This kind of customers are the worst but you did your job the best as you could.Dont give up we are learning on our mistakes and with every nail set we are getting better and more experienced. Even that lady says about you someting not nice she will be not able to destroy of your reputation.
(i would like to pologize for some mistakes but iam learning english )
Dont give up we are with you and as a nail professional we understand your problem

I remember your original post and i cant believe that she is still going on and on about these nails like someone obsessed. I think she has problems that are nothing to do with your nails (seriously) and probably does this sort of thing all the time. I'm sure the people she is telling about this are rolling their eyes and thinking omg not again! Normal people would have moved on from this, clearly she isn't normal. It's such a shame that you've come across her so early on but dig out that passion for nails and and start to enjoy yourself again x

I think Geeg's post was brilliant and bang on. Tell her to deal with your insurance company! DO NOT SPEAK TO HER AGAIN!

Hi Everyone, just to say another huge thank you for all your support and to let you know I used this to find my strength within and have already got back on the horse! I have done a lovely set of natural acrylic nails this evening and my client was extremely pleased! Thank goodness:D

I last spoke to THE LADY this morning and finished by saying as far as I was concerned the matter was finished. I will contact my insurance company and if she contacts me again I will do as suggested.

Thanks again x x x

glad you got back on the horse hun! we all have days or people that make us feel like crap :( its life and it happens in any job! these people dont matter they will soon be in the past and its what you do next that counts build yourself a good reputation and your client base will grow...
im guessing people that know this lady will already know what shes like...those type of people cant hide their nasty side so i wouldnt expect her slating u to have an effect to be honest.
you will become hardened to this over time as your confidence improves, do what you love Nails and forget the rest :)

GOOD GIRL ... That's the spirit!!

Do not get drawn into any kind of conversation with this woman from this moment on. Let her bluster and threaten .. she obviously isn't used to people standing up to her shenanigans. Don't get drawn in.

Go forward and prosper ... we all have had one of these in our time and not suffered from it in any way .. in fact you grow from it.

That is the best news that any of us could wish for! Good girl! You will feel far better about the whole thing, standing up for yourself than if you had given in to this hooligan! ;)
