Hi guys a question I have been suffering from mild acne for probably about 5 years now and I am so disheartened nothing I do helps and I was thinking I put alot of tresseme hairspray on I mean quite a bit for my hairstyle. Could this be the cause? I am 23 and should should have settled really by now.
:( any suggestions? I am so self conscious that I have to put alot of foundation on to make me feel comfortable to go out the house.
Thanks guys! Xx

If I use any products with silicone (usually dimethicone) in it on my hair or face i get large cystic acne. Morrocan oils, shine sprays, shampoos, conditioners and 80% of make up has it in. It is a pain to avoid silicone but my skin is much improved x

I don't know how to avoid this I am really hoping this is the case but I don't know if a hairspray shield will be good? I can't not go out the house without make up as my skin is awful!

If you think hair spray could be the culprit then you should stop using it to see if your skin improves. If it does not improve after a couple of weeks, have a look at what else may be causing it.

The cause could be your make up, your diet or a number of other things. The reason my first piece of advice is to cut out the hair spray is that if I use hair spray just one day I get quite large papules round my hair line and especially right on my temples. Where do you get your breakouts? The area of breakouts may help you to find the culprit.

I don't use hairspray round the front of my face only on my crown as I come out in spots, I don't use any hair product really which is a pain but instead of serum I use my moisturiser works fine for me x x

I get it on my cheeks and chin I don't get any on my forehead, if it might be my makeup I don't know what to do as some people don't seem to understand how embarrassed I am. It's not just a few acne bits it's the whole of my cheeks and chin and alot of acne rosecea is this which I can't get rid of, makeup helps me feel a litte more comfortable. I go to the doctors and I insist on something stronger but they say well we will try u on this for a couple weeks, it's a waste of time cause it doesn't work. So upset :(

Ah bless you Hun, that must be awful for you when you feel Luke you're not getting anywhere :(

Have you tried using sudocreme on your skin hun? That should help dry the acne out and improve the appearance of it. Although, if it's being cause by something like hairspray or make up you will need to find the cause of it otherwise it won't go :( I hope you find something to help you soon. But honestly if you haven't already tried it, try applying sudocreme at night before bed xxx

That's awful, you must be quite insistent with the doctor, keep going until you get something sorted.
The pill called dianetta can help have they mentioned that? Also what makeup do you wear as has to be oil free to help x x

I agree with Lila that you must go back to the Doctor.

They will try you out with the weaker medications first unfortunately.

Rosacea is very very difficult to manage and control and no amount of facials and beauty treatments are going to help with this.

The only medication that seems to work for this is Oxytetracycline. It's strange that it works because it shoudn't but it does!!

Hairspray may indeed be making things worse but what you are experiencing is happening from the inside which is why you need the doctor and the drugs.

When you go back to the doctor make sure you tell him that your skin is starting to scar where spots come up, go down, come up and go down again usually in the same places.

Rosacea and scarring can be a very depressing combination, you need to ensure the doctor knows how you feel ok ... and that you really would like to try the Oxytetracycline.

Good luck my lovely xxx

Thankyou for your replies guys! I will Ring up tomorrow cause it's only book on the day with this doctor that specialises in skin. I will also try the sumocreme aswell at night, so depressing so hopefully we will see how things go, thanks guys! :) xxx
