Hi All,

So I qualified last weekend as a beginner Shellac tech. I did my first real client this evening, i just feel Im all hands and awkward. Im left handed so its prob not helping. I did a pretty ok job i think. Just feeling daunted. Are any of you left handed? Does it make any real difference? X

I'm right handed but still felt all fingers and thumbs in the early days. It's just nerves etc.

What they walk away with on their nails is what counts and what will make them return to you.

I don't think being left handed has anything to do with it :) . You live the rest of your life without feeling awkward, it's just a case of getting used to everything. It will be so familiar after a while you'll be doing it with your eyes closed :) x

Really?? :p im left handed and ive been in the industry for over 7 years and run a successful spa. Never had a problem. Left handed or right handed you just qualified, you're going to be all over the place for a while. It's completely normal. Once your confidence builds up it will be much better. After a few clients you will be ok :)

It makes no difference hun.. ive been a left handed nail tech for over 13 years ;)

I'm left handed and recently qualified in acrylic. It does make some difference to me in getting the filing right to create the apex but like everything left-hand you get used to it. Just make sure your desk is set up for a leftie! X

....another leftie here, without any difficulty.

Im ambidexterous and was all over the place at first too.

The only 'problem' with being left handed is that most trainers/tutors are right handed, so you can't follow their routine in quite the same way.....
Left handed folk are however meant to be more artistic.....! ;)

I'm another leftie with no problems. As you become more confident you'll be fine [emoji1]

Leftie over here :) x

Yeah i naturally do most work with my right hand for this reason. Even though i can actually polish better with my left.

I have different things im better at with each hand.

I polish better with my left but i apply acrylic better with my right.

I also dont like filing with my left hand even though im better at it with that hand.

I am a leftie too! x

I agree with redstar the trainer was trying to show me how to shape the acrylic and it's just impossible to hold the file in the same way. I get the right outcome even if it doesn't look too elegant while I am doing it lol x

My college tutor is left handed and she is absolutely brilliant. I went to her class because I knew she would be a good teacher. Don't worry :)
