I'm finding all your answers so interesting. I started drinking water today and I'm trying to digest the rest of the advice and then decide what I should do and in which order.

I live in London but thanks for the offer. I'll be in Yorkshire training soon so maybe I'll pop in :)

Fiona Wallace.......Mmmmm......I'll deal with you later.

Well i know its not a 'professional' brand as such, although i think its as good as many, but i do love Liz Earle and she is saturdays special value on qvc.Not sure whats on offer but its always good value.

Liz Earle now have a salon in london,in Sloane Square. So Kim it might be a treat to go and have a facial with her products,if you like the cleanse and polish.

My opinion on skincare is avoid mineral oils and alcohols in a skincare range.Keep out of the sun and massage everything in. I believe massage is the key of a good facial and keeping your own skin bright and toned... so massage in your cleanser and then use an essential oil blend (liz earle does one ,decleors are beautiful or you can make your own)and massage that in and then massage in your moisturiser. If you relax your facial muscles its like natural botox. You can go on you tube to get some moves and just put a bit extra in to your routine at night you can do a quickie cleanse etc in the morn.

Also at our age exfoliate because our skin doesnt shed as well as it used to :).

And you look fantastic ... like Cher in your avatar.

I wish...lol...Im actually more like Dawn French lol...specially now I have had my hair chopped.

Yes it is dehydrated rather than dry. So is drinking watert he main key?
Dry skin refers to the amount of oils (sebum) being produced by your sebaceous gland. It is also possible that you are not using the correct facial products which could be drying your skin out.

Dehydrated skin refers to moisture (liquid) which can be affected by eg. your fluid intake or air conditioning and central heating (in great use at this time of year). A person may drink loads of water, but they may also drink loads of tea which is like a diuretic and therefore counteracts the hydrating effects of the water. Alcohol can also affect your water intake (and I'm not saying you are pinting it with the alcohol )..... just explaining the effects of our diet on our skin.

Therefore it helps to think of 'dry skin' in terms of 'oils (sebum)' and dehydration in terms of 'moisture (liquid)'. This is the best way I can think of explaining it.

I would back up the rehydration and collagen....plumps up the skin...If your down this way....I would offer to give you a facial with collagen and moisture in....but like the others have said a good consultation is good..........dont forget hormones play a huge part too.

I know you also work very hard too

If your down this way drop me an email or you may still have my number

Well thank you everyone for all your help and advice. I have been trying to drink more water and I have been using the Liz Earle cleanser and moisturiser and I have noticed a difference. Big hugs to you all. xxx:hug:

Hi Kim,

I think everyone here wants to treat you to a facial and give you the best skincare advice :)

You know if you understand the basic skin anatomy I am very confident you will find the best skincare regime for your skin.

May I suggest you start by learning about your skin health and how hormones work. Patrick Holford's book on Skin - Patrick Holford is a good start.

As you are approaching a glorious age, his other book on Hormones is also brilliant - Patrick Holford

This is my regime to achieve optimum skin health:-

* always cleanse skin morning and night, followed by a moisturiser
* exfoliate 2-3 times a week
* wear SPF daily including SPF for eye area
* use eye cream morning and night
* for added hydration, I use a product containing hyaluronic acid
* daily application of vitamins to the face and neck
* daily multivitamin supplement for female (to help with hormones and other female requirements)
* daily supplement of Omega oils
* no more than 2 teas or coffee a day
* drink plenty of water/herbal tea while working

If you need to try any Dermalogica samples, just ask, however I have worked with Environ previously and I strongly advise it for you. Applying vitamins topically and getting enough nutrients through your diet is the way forward!

Looking at your picture on your website-I dont think you;ve got any worries Kim - You look fab!! Far better to have a few lines from smiling and being happy, Yeah and drinking coffee and loads of wine!!!
