Can you mix and match gel polishes but use one brand of base and top coat?

I use Tru Gel gel polish , I like some colours in other brands of gel polish such as shellac and gelish etc.. do I have to buy their base and top coats to use their colours? Thanks

Yes, and the brand specific lamp, where indicated by manufacturer instructions.

You should always follow manufacturers instructions which the majority if the time will insist that you use their products as a full system which means the same brand base, colour and top coat, and usually the matching brand lamp as well.
