Hello all!

I have a problem... I have recently started working as a Saturday girl in a salon and now I have been offered 2 days as a junior in another new salon, while I finish my NVQ2 (starting in sept).
I would idealy work in both places, since I need money for my expenses, but I don't know how would this come across to the salon's managers.
Do u think they'll mind 'sharing' me? They are both in the same city, only a street distance so they'll have to know. :)
I feel like I'm doing something behind their back and maybe the best way would be to stick to one of them, probably the 2 days a week one, but the thing is that at the other salon I feel like I am part of the family. And I've learnt so many things ever since I've been there! And done so many things! At the other one there's only one stylist (I believe) and I'm sure I won't learn as many things as in the other place where there are 3 stylists teaching me.
So...the problem is.....do you think it would be acceptable for me to go to the both salons? or there's no such thing and u have to be loyal to one of them?
I would feel horrible to say to the ones where I work on Saturday that I have to leave, since i found a better offer. I like them both...and I believe I can manage them and benefit from a lot of practice.
Any advice would be more than welcomed! Thank u!

Why don't you explain to the people who you work for on a Saturday that you need more hours and have been offered work elsewhere, she may offer you more work there....

Would be ideal, but they've told me from the beginning that they can't afford to offer me more days. They've quoted the situation with the students being out of the town atm, and plus, I need to bring clients in order for them to have money to pay me. And they are already 3 seniors plus 2 apprentices and another Sat girl. And the salon is not big at all...So I see their point..

Arhh...don't know what to do now..:(

from a salon owners point of view i would say, you are best just working in one pick the one that will most benefit you and stay at that one..... i e the one where you will earn the most experience. i mean if you worked your socks off at the sat job they would def give you more days, its all about getting in your foot in then climbing up the ladder,

or if you go to the other one and work really hard then they will give you more days.
do what ever is best for you but stay at one and be honest with your bosses x

good luck

Thank you Chanails. You are right...
But I'm interested to see reasons for why not working in both places?(assuming that the schedule won't interfere and I'll try to keep myself as professional as possible, not changing info from one side to another).

As much as you would try, it would be very hard to keep stum about other salons, also the pricing may be different so the dearer salon would lose custom to the cheaper one, if the clients followed you, if that makes sense!

Ok thanks Hartey. I guess it's a no no then....
I'll see how things evolve. It's a bit like choosing between 2 boyfriends situation ( and u always end up with none :))
