Hiya new to this site, hoping for advice on where to go, im due to start my NVQ level 2 beauty studies this year, but are aspiring to be a spa therapist and go down holistic/massage route and onto degree level, hoping to work in a day spa. So just wondering is studying basic NVQ levels 2 and 3 in Beauty therapies going to get me to where i want to go? I have researched on the internet but is conflicting information, any advice is appreciated

Nvq level 2&3 is definitely not a bad place to start but if you are only ever going to want to do massage and holistic treatments then you may find yourself very fed up learning other things that you may never want to offer clients. As an alternative you could train in massage etc separately and you therefore just have the qualifications for those treatments. You could also contact some spas and ask them what qualifications they would require in order to hire you...if the answer is undoubtedly nvq level 2&3 then you have your answer. Good luck 😊

Spas generally want a minimum NVQ level 3 trained therapists - there are many LVL 3 routes now depending on your college such as massage route (body treatments, massage, hot stone) then make up route and the general route (electricals, massage, electrolysis), you sound like you'd maybe be better opting for the massage route. A business management degree would be highly beneficial after LVL 3 if you want to work at a higher level in a spa. Good luck
