Hello, I am currently looking into training in certain aspects of beauty due to change in direction of my career. I love everything about beauty and am hoping I can make the change with hard work and probably lots of money :( I have made a list of training courses I would like to complete by the end of this year.

I am looking for training for beginners which will give me the best qualification.
My list so far is as follows:
Manicure and pedicure
Gelish application
Spray tans
Eyelash extensions
Facials
Body massage
Honey I shrunk wraps

I understand the last 3 require a qualification in anatomy and physiology which I am also trying to find where I can do this locally and part time.

I would appreciate any help and advice in how to proceed. I live in Warwickshire and work full time so I would obviously need to book days off for the 1 day training courses and evening courses for the college side of it.

Thanks in advance and hopefully someone can help me as I'm new to this as well as beauty!

X

Hi, how exciting that you're making a change, I changed my career to beauty and it's the best thing I've ever done. Never looked back. In terms of training, best thing to do is have a good look around to see which courses suit you best. Be very carefull though, there are a lot of companies that will take your money and the "qualification" is useless. If you're not sure call one of the insurance companies like Babtac to check them out.
I would recommend NVQ 2 to start, it will give you a sound foundation and understanding of the industry as well as covering some of the modules you want to do. It will also underpin a lot of the knowledge you will need if you then want to add extras from 1 day courses.
Personally i think it will be difficult to do all of what you want by the end of the year, you don't want to spread yourself too thinly and be average at it. All of those modules take masses of work to get a professional standard.
A lot of colleges do NVQ on a part time basis so I would recommend that, be warned though,,it's addictive and you'll probably keep wanting to learn everything!! Haha. Just research everything and decide what's best for you. Good luck. Xxx

Thank you for your advice. I am struggling to find an evening college course that covers what I need/want, so I might have to stick with the one day courses and build up experience by practising on friends and family.

I wish this is something I had got into after school now!! Thanks again for the advice x
