Just need a little advice please.
I have a group of ladies for Shellac & one if them is having chemo. Until now her nails have been fine but have just found out her nails are falling off. Is there anything I can do for her?
I don't do any type of false nail so can't do that (wouldn't be happy doing that anyway).
The lady organising the group has said she asked someone & they said they just had the nail bed painted anyway but I'm sure that's a no no too?

Onycholysis is a common side effect of chemo, personally I wouldn't be applying anything to the nails other than Solar Oil to help promote faster, and healthy new regrowth. I'd keep the nails super short, you need to support the actual nail when filing and go super gentle. I'd avoid cuticle work too in the short term until there is some new solid regrowth. It's so hard for the client but your first concern is always the health of the nail/client and pretty comes second

Thanks Trinity. This was my thought too & I know have to be super careful. Sadly it's only a one off whilst she's staying nearby so can't do much for her unfortunately it hopefully I can give her a little something on the day.

Maybe you could offer her a hand and arm massage?

One of my ladies has just gone through this a few months ago. The hospital said she could wear nail varnish and recommended a dark colour since chemo often turns the nails dark or blotchy.

No shellac and certainly no extensions, as onycholysis is, as Trinity said, is a side effect and product on the nails could encourage it to happen or make it worse.

My lady loved having her nails painted though at a time when she felt at her worst. She's back having Shellac again now after her recovery [emoji4]
