Hi Geeks,

I just wanted to run this past you all to see what you would do/how you would handle this client:

I passed my hair extensions course two years a go and I do micro loop extensions. This client was one of my first clients I did, was very nervous but she loved it and was very happy. I have now done her hair 5 times, every time I leave she is happy with it, I usually spend about 1/2 hour afterwards making sure she likes where they are all positioned, if she wants any moving etc etc. So I leave, she is happy, I go to my next client...

Now every time I have done her hair she has been happy for about a week, then literally bombards me with texts asking all sorts of questions and asking me to go round to put more in, move some round, take some out. She does pay for it each time but it is getting very annoying and time consuming. The latest is that the hair has all matted, she assures me she is doing all the correct aftercare so I went to my supplier with it as I thought it was maybe the hair, then I suddenly though from the exact same batch of hair I did my friends hair and it is still in excellent condition and she is having no problems!

I really dont know what to do now, she has moved away somewhere that is around 1 1/2 hrs drive away so when she comes home for the odd day I have to try fit her in around all my other clients and if I am busy she throws the old "Im a regular client and I have recommended you to so many people" malarky...

So.... how would you all handle it, what can I do to please her?? :irked:

Might I also add, everytime she wants a new set fitted she asks if I can do it any cheaper, even though she already gets them discounted for recommending people. I said I cant keep giving her discount everytime she recommends someone as she will then eventually get it free lol!

It sounds like she's assumed the position of 'salon owner', not your fault, youve just been too nice to her and she's taking advantage of that,
ask her, did she have to bully those friends to come to you or is it maybe that you offer some thing good that no-one else does, (put it differently of course) because her friends aren't going to come to come to you 'just' because she tells them to and that alone, you must be really good too for them to continue, you'll definately have to be less friendly ( she's got the 'i made you' complex)
this is just what i think, might be wrong xx

Thanks for that Tigan - I see where you are coming from definitely. I have basically said to her that it could be best for her to remove the extensions if they are causing so much hassle, she has had them in 3 months so got her use to them, to which she replied 'What a waste of money then'....Charming :!:

Have you recommended aftercare products to this woman...what aftercare advise did you give to her???

First things first, whos the boss? You or her?...... you! (Duh?!).

I think all you need to do is let her know, you appreciate her custom, then be quite decieving.
As in she seems to always complaint about the hair batch, not the treatment itself, ie shes not taking any blame for her own hair coming out, its everyone elses problem. So ensure that you let her know, in placebo matters that you have a brand new product and it costs way more and although you will do a nice deal as she is a regular, i bet she wont have any problems.

Either that or you have to get rid, sometimes it just isnt worth the effort. One of my hd specialises in hair extentions so i always let her make the decision on whether the client understands the aftercare process of looking after their own hair! xoxo

I always give a full 3 page aftercare booklet to my clients as well as go through essential parts of the aftercare.. I also have told her to buy some aftercare products as she ran out about a month back, but I cant force her?!

Its funny you say all that wonderwoman as that is exactly what I did last time I fitted her hair extensions.. I actually got hold of some lovely more expensive, thicker hair but still she hasnt been satisfied. I said to her maybe she has too many in (she kept asking for 25 strands, then 50 more strands to be put in) and she said well you shouldn't have done it then... To which I just replied 'I can only do what you ask of me, and wouldnt say no to somebody wanting extra thick hair extensions if I thought it would damage your hair' I havent had a reply now...

Its always different problems each time I fit them, I dont understand what she expects?! Her hair lasts her the 3 sometimes 4 months and is in good condition, she loses about 3 strands throughout this whole time, and she gets good discount?!?! Im baffled to what she is doing to make them matt up so much this time though :(
