So I had a lady with telogen effluvium. So to cut a long story short. We have cut her hair but she wants it coloured, she’s coloured it herself at home with an all over semi permanent but wants highlights now. She has been booked in for a cut this Saturday for a while then mid/end of jan the lady text asking to have it coloured. After checking with my insurance company and with the Belgravia centre (hair loss specialists) I’ve been advised to not colour the ladies hair. So I politely replied that due to my insurance policy I’m afraid I wouldn’t be able to colour her hair for her and asked if she would still like to keep her appointment for a cut in for this Saturday. She basically hasn’t replied and I’ve messaged her 3 times and called her twice to leave voicemail to see if she received my message and see if she’s ok. (I can’t stress how polite I’ve been) still nothing. My Saturdays are completely solid and I have cancellation lists so I could fill this appointment. I’m a new business and pregnant and need the money. The last vm I left I said that if I didn’t have confirmation wether she still wanted to keep this Saturdays appointment I would have to offer it to somebody else as Saturdays are extremely sought after. The texts have been delivered so I assume she’s got them. Is it harsh that I take her appointment out and offer it to somebody else? Xx

No she has had enough chances. Id say she found someone else that would do it or just isnt coming and didnt want to tell you.

If she wanted the appointment she would have replied, so i would book someone else in.

Thank you for the reply’s guys, I’ll offer it to someone else and pray that she doesn’t turn up on Saturday xx

I THink you already have your answer- if youve told her the appointment will be cancelled if she dosnt respond & she hasnt, then I would think that she dosnt want it.

Rude, but shes probably sulking xx

You did the right thing! You will have more clients that keep coming back to you because you care for their hair condition & have their best interests at heart. Sometimes their requests have to be politely rejected like you have done so by you as their stylist and if that means losing one or two clients then so be it. Let her new stylists reputation be at stake should it all end in tears x
